Since when is a trac bar and a panhard the same thing?

Theres lots of traction bar designs that replicate ladder bar dependent suspension. The traction bars you showed are an old style leaf sprung traction bar similar to caltracs. You cant use those on a 3/4 link suspension. Thats where the ladder bar type traction bar comes in play.

And just for even more multy named comparisons a ladder bar rear suspension = same thing as radius arm front suspension with minor tweaks.

why would you use a traction bar on a 3/4 link? I thought the point of those was to rid yourself of those problems.

Hey you two! Quit trying to confuse things! Bot of you need to add a "k" to your "trac" :doah:

From what I've read over the years in off road magazines and such, most of the time it is spelled "trac bar." I've also seen it called a trac arm sometimes.

Those are not similar to Cal-tracs. Yes they are both for using on leaf springs, but Cal-tracs seperate the front leverage point, so you can move your instant center forward. They function different.

Sure, if they are talking about a traction bar and not a track/panhard bar;)
