Sleeved 454?

In the picture above, ( the one with the rod cap ) if you look at the cylinder bore, you can see the edge of the sleeve... I wasn't sure if it was the piston skirt or a sleeve at first, but I guess we know now!!!

.060 is about the limit on BBC's overbore without doing sonic testing of the block.
Of course you can risk it, but I wouldn't personally build one past that. If this engine was already bored to the limit, and then had one hole get damaged, they could have decided to go with sleeves to bring it all back to standard.

I can see doing this with a 4 bolt main block but 2 bolts are a dime a dozen..and even at some point you gotta cut your losses...and if your serious about building any real HP, it's hard to beat starting out with a block from Brodix, Dart, World, or one of the many others out there... Heck, even Summit and Jegs sell ready to build recon block that run about the same cost of putting in 8 sleeves and prepping an old beater block...

That’s what I thought, but this is the first engine I’ve fully disassembled so I wasn’t sure.
