Hey Guys,

I really, really want to go but the K5 won't be ready for the trip. I talked a friend of mine into going so I can at least get up there with you guys, the only problem is it is a Z71 not a K5. Anyone objections. I really wanted to get my K5 up in the mountians and maybe in THE mag but I guess I'll have to wait untill next time. But at least I can be a passenger on the trip. Better than nothing. So let me know if you guys don't want any trucks on this run. If you guys don't mind I'll be there.

See Ya,
Keith

Mike,
Do you have a set time you are planning on departing the Wal-Mart parking lot? Also will you have a phone number there that I can call in case of a problem (lost)? I will be driving up from El Cajon (San Diego) and it is about a 115 mile trip. I want to make sure that I don't drive all the way up there and miss ya'll by a few minutes or something. Thanks,
Russ

SoCal K5 - please come up with us, we would be happy to see you there! This is gonna be a great run, I can tell! And to the K5er that is coming up in the Z71 - YES, feel free to come up with us! The more the merrier! And this is gonna be a "Full Size" run report, so any and all full sizes are welcome...of course, in a perfect world we would have all K5s there, but anyone is welcome!
As for the meeting time, maybe Blazen 91 (Mike) can post the times again. I will be meeting you guys up in Running Springs (up the mountain) that morning, as I will be staying at my cabin Friday night. So hopefully we can decide on a CB channel and if anyone has cell phones we should post numbers so that we can all get a hold of one another if need be. I also have a couple of Motorola Talk ABouts, so I can listen in on those too, if anyone has any.

Also, snow IS expected for Tuesday night/Wednesday, and also for Friday/Saturday possibly, so please be prepared! Warm clothes and boots, gloves, blankets, etc. Also, as I have said before, snow chains would be a great help if the going gets real tough. Should make for quite a magazine story and shoot!!!! :)

My cell number is (949)293-4439. The coverage is spotty up in the mountains, so it may not work all the time. Also, if anything changes as of Friday night, someone please call me at the cabin (909)867-3112, or if anyone needs a snow report!! he,he

Keith,

It sounds like you are up there more than the rest of us, so maybe you know of a CB channel that is fairly clear of traffic and transmits fairly clear in the mountians. I don't think the rest of us would have any problems with you throwing a CB channel # at us that we can all flip on when we get close to Highland. Just a thought. I can't wait. Fresh clean crisp air, lots of white stuff on the ground and plenty of chances for any one of us to get stuck. LOL...

..... Probably just the rig I am going in but thats allright,.......it's all good.

See ya on the hill,

Well, there is normally not much radio traffic up there, and the range is somewhat limited when you get into the mountains, but let's just pick a channel. I normally use Ch 4 with my buddies, if that is ok, we'll use that. If anyone else has cell phones, let's list them here for everyone to use in case of problems. You can email me at: [email protected] and then I will put a list together and post it. Remember, I will be meeting the group in Running Springs, so look for a black 1987 Blazer when you turn off!! It could be snowing, but I am sure that I will notice a big group of K5s and 4x4s! Mike, what time are you planning on meeting at WalMArt and when do you plan on coming up the mountain? My guess is that there will be considerable traffic (skiers/snowboarders) and that if chains are required, it could be a slow drive. Also, remember, that every once in a while the CHP requires that even 4x4s bring chains with them (only in the worst storms do they make you put them on), so it would be a hgood idea to have some to at least show them.

Also, as far as trails, we will just have to try a few to see how the going is...and yes, I would definitely plan on getting stuck!! ha,ha We should have no problem giving Mr Kennedy some recovery picture opportunities!! :)

Sorry guys, I am extreamlly busy this week. I can't make it.

Ya right! I WILL BE THERE.

We are meeting at 7:00am at Wal-Mart And plan on leaving at 8:00am or sooner if every one is there. If anyone needs anything call me at home at 760-948-4210 or cell at 760-963-9933.

Yes Matt, that was you. SORRY!

kpanza- Ch. 4 sounds great. Call me on my cell tomorrow morning between 7&8 if I don't talk to you tonight.

I can't wait. And yes any 4x is welcome as far as I am concerned. As said before,"The more, the marrier."

there is a trail called goldwood mourtain,i think thats the name, but anyways he said that would be a good trail to start off of and then go run john bull, and somthing else if we have time. all these trails are rated black daimond and are very challanging trails even dry so be pepared.i dont think we can run deep creek too deep but mabey willow creek.no sissies

Gold Mountain and John Bull are pretty good trails, and in the snow they will be quite a challenge. We will just have to see what kind of trucks show up and decide which trails we can do. Depending on the snow depth, we might have fun just GETTING to the trails!! ha,ha We will see...

I know I've said it a few times already, but let's be smart and be prepared! Shovels, snow chains, gloves, extra clothes and warm clothes, food/water, tools, tow straps should all be part of your items to bring! Remember, we will be on Ch4 CB, and if anyone has any Motorola type "talkabouts" I will monitor Ch4 on those as well...the place that I will be meeting you guys at is an Ultramar Gas station next to Running Springs, which is where we can all gas up and get snacks, etc. They also have a good sandwich shop inside where you can get something to bring out on the trail.

And I need every one who IS COMING FOR SURE to send me a private. I will make a list and the earlier every body shows up at Wal-Mart, the earlier we will leave. (Rene-I expect to see your name on that list!

LOL)

coopertwpk-I would like to hit the freeway by 6:00-6:15 so we can be there early. I'll call you Friday night.

Ok, can anyone say SNOW?? :) The Weather Service says that it will snow heavily today, and we should see some lingering off and on chances at snow Saturday also. This is gonna be fun, and we should get a lot of use out of our winches!! I am bringing chains for all four tires, but we will see how the going is...I plan on having fun no matter what!

SO, let's all be prepared and make it a great trip! See all of you up there tomorrow morning!! Oh yeah, don't forget those Adventure Passes (although I am sure that the Rangers will all be nice and warm in their stations - not out in the snow!! ha,ha)

Hey Keith, you REALLY need that Powermaster alternator now, since your heater will be running FULL BLAST all weekend!!! ;) Dang, wish'd I could go!!!!
