so holley sniper feedback has me thinking . . . fire in the hole . . . BOOM !

Im still using HEI. The timing control is not hooked up. It needs a different style dizzy for that

I was referring to a locked out HEI so you can use it with the timing control feature. I think we talked about that....otherwise an HEI distributor works fine as a standalone without any Sniper/FiTech control.

Needs to be the small cap hei to use the control

Not sure about the sniper setup but the FITech requires a msd pro billet or the like to use timing control. I can't use timing control with either of the hei dizzy I have

The small cap HEI like a TBI unit will work with those

There’s debate on the Large cap working with it. But then theres the magnetic vs hall effect pick up debate

it's been 6 months or so since I dealt with it but according to FITech hei wouldn't work with the timing control iirc. I had a small cap hei with the separate coil and now have Davis unified ignition distributor
 
Yep, and mixed results with either system using small cap

But we also used large cap locked out on a crank trigger and it worked fine

I need to find a good step by step for idiots on this. You know one with everything from fuel tank all the way to the maifold, distributor(is HEI compatible) and ECU. I have never messed with tbi. I gota face my fears. It seems the master kit would be the wisest to get? It comes with a fuel pump and 20' of fuel line.

i was fearful too, mainly of the fuel pump setup.......until recently; Really, it's simple. Run a line from the tank outlet to the pump and then a line from the pump(and filters) to the throttle body(or fuel rails). If it's tbi, then it's relatively low pressure and you can use high-quality rubber line. (?) Don't need to use metal (although that's probably better). And make sure the pump is close to the tank and at or below mid-level of the tank. Below tank level is better. i think the master kit is a good idea, but i would still want to change the in-tank sock filter though.

Now, to address the in-tank vs. exterior fuel pump thing:

But who makes a decent tbi tank?

Don't trust Spectra. Now, holley does make a few. But do they make one for suburbans and other models? What to do then?

Now, i think this drop-in module from holley is a very good thing. The only issue is i would think you would need to get your tank steam-cleaned by someone who knows what they're doing or risk blowing yourself to the moon when you drill the hole for the module?

i would rather trust a factory, non-tbi tank, even if 30+years old vs. a flash-in-the pan unit like Spectra etc.

Don't run low pressure for anything, it will blow ,braided hose or run metal line

The one pictured is a custom build. Slosh box, baffles, holley fuel mat, drain, all the good stuff.

Our baffle design prevents the vibration cracking that you see on so many of the aftermarket welded fuel cells.

and for the love of all truck parts stop bashing the spectra tanks .

atleast someone is making a decent tank that holds up and fits good . i have seen and used a few cheeper units and boy are they cheeper for a reason .

untill someone steps up the game and repop's the gm style good luck .
