So how much are square bodies worth?

So... we currently have Blazer Bash, if these prices continue to climb I'm thinking we should add in a CK5 Concours D'elegance to show off all these 100K rides.

I don't believe there is a single Chevy made since 1994 that will ever be considered a true "classic'. I think the K5 or K10 has a special place in the truck world and are the last remaining American made vehicles worth collecting with all the muscle cars becoming accounted for. I could be wrong.

I agree with you Chief,I see no vehicles made after 1990's that will ever have the cult following of the older muscle cars and trucks..maybe a very few,but nothing like the good old days..

Face it--with few exceptions-America's best looking, fastest, and longest lasting vehicles reached their peak before 1974..after the catalitic converter and smog controls came around, and they started lightening up all the vehicles to get better fuel mileage, the "best" years were over..practically nothing made after the 1990's gives me any thrills or desire to own one..

That's what my dad said when the square bodies came out...that good vehicles had ended and there would never be another generation worth collecting. Hogwash, and the crazy prices in this thread are proof of that. You may or may not like the GMT400s, but there are plenty of young pups who grew up in them. In a few years those kids will be old enough, rich enough, and nostalgic enough to start collecting them and the cycle will start all over again. It actually has, but the cult isn't large enough yet to have started bidding wars. A few more years of scrapping them out will change that just like it did with the squares.

Around here many of the GMT400 era trucks are already shredded,or being cannibalized for parts--their frames disintegrate in less than 10 years and their body panels seem to rot faster than the square bodies did here..
Maybe someone who grew up in that era would want one to restore or collect,(just as I prefer the classic vehicles I grew up with)--but the only reason I'd own one is because there isn't any reasonably priced square bodies locally any more..but due to the rapid rotting of newer GM trucks ,those too are demanding high prices if you can find one that is rust free, and doesn't have 200-300K miles on it..

got a barret jackson contender here. a cool 10 grand.

Yeah, kind of like what I've done with more than one of my trucks.....not that any of mine were Nevada survivors, but a few were pretty darn solid when I got them...but back then there was a lot more of them around for fairly cheap money ..

It's all these auctions like Meacham and Barrett-Jackson. People will see a museum example of our trucks go for 44000 + so they think they're rusted out chunk of shit is worth at least 10,000.

Agreed...it's the same thing that has happened to the diesel-douche market. Since new diesels are going for $80k+ nowadays, they think their clapped out 1995 12V with 400k miles on it is still worth $12k...so dumb.

Try $100K+ (new Ferd F350)

There is so much wrong with that it's not even funny...it's getting to the point I'm surprised regular insurance companies are not denying coverage for these things. $100K item that technically your half blind grandpa could get it, and in 3 seconds total it and the company is out nearly the sales price.
