Finalized this deal finally, 92 250 2wd auto. Original owner since new, 150 on the clock. Runs like a top. Needs some maintenance; new tires, shocks, brakes, an the obvious.... paint job.this truck will be my dd and tow rig once it's back up to par. I'd like I hear some suggestions on mild mods, things to check or preventatively repair I.e. the pin under timing cover etc. the truck was originally all white before the paint issue. Should I stick with it or do something different. Never was a real dodge fan, but the motor is what sold me.

gauges
denny t fuel pin
3200 gsk
maybe some mild injectors.
kdp

that ought to get you off to the races for a bit.

Want some dually parts for it, my truck is getting scrapped when I do the swap.

I would be looking into some different seats I think they are really uncomfortable.

Never a huge dodge, fan, but these trucks look awesome with a small lift / tires.

Newer wheels / tires, paint, and no topper, and this thing will look sweet.

Nice score.

just to whore up your thread
this was my last dodge
91.5 2wd auto
lowered 1" all around
air bags rear
gsk/dennyt

Unlike everybody, I say keep the top.
It will help with aerodynamics, and it secures your stuff in the bed.
Once it's all the same color it will be good.
I actually like the body style but mine was a gas engine so I dumped it.

Definitely considering the Newer Dodge 2500 17 inch wheels. The topper will be taken on and off as needed. I do a lot of salvage yard stuff, so the topper would be nice for keeping tools and parts more secure. If I understand correctly, this truck has a "rotary pump" this is not the P 71? I was happy to see that it was intercooled, I thought that started in the 94 and up style trucks. And Keith, I was tossing the idea around of making it a dually. Me and my east coast guy (the one that has made the parts runs with me) are working on getting a three car wedge trailer.

it is the rotary VE pump. not as strong as the p7100 but definitly not a bad pump. should get pretty good mileage. intercooling started in 91.5

be careful with the 17" wheels because with the 2wd it might not clear the suspension.
i know on mine it didnt but mine was also lowered. but something to think about.

Is the VE pump still a mod-able pump? And the 17's do they hit control arms at full lock?

Check out some VE pump mods on youtube, you can advance the timing by rotating the pump an 1/8 of an inch, turn up the star wheel so you add more fuel and the denny t fuel pin. 3200 rpm gov spring helps out a lot too. All the know how is on the tube just don't get too crazy with the timing and star wheel. A lot of guys will use a smaller 16cm housing as well so it spools quicker because the stock conpressor housing is a little big. Straight pipe it:D

i had a 91'. best damn truck i have owned. they squeak and rattle on the inside like a mofo'. but they get you there and back everytime. i got mine with 65k on it. sold it with 300k.

as already said
3200 spring for sure if you want to go over 70mph
kdp for sure
fuel pin
free pump mods.

that would be a great start

I am one of the odd ones that like that body style.

If i didnt have kids i would rock a lowered 2 wheel drive extended cab!

All of this stuff is on the to do list, especially the free ones. Is there a site or a write up anywhere on the KDP procedure. I've heard it talked about a lot, just haven't done one first hand. Considering addressing it before I tag it and start driving it. Where's the best place to get the fuel pin and 3200 spring? Are these things easy to add a tach to?

Also got to take it easy with the $$ mods for a whIle as I've got to get the K5 done for BB12. But this thing has to be good enough to drag it there...

I say do the necessary repairs but leave it stock, just drive it. I daily drive my 90 and love it. I'm getting 18-19 mpg with short stop and go city driving and no OD. I fear the mods others have suggested will make it eat transmissions, and right now mine shifts perfect, but mine also had 115k on it when I got it and it's now at 118k. I don't plan on spending a dime on mine except for maintenance and my paint is as bad as yours. I will do the kdp this summer though.

the tachs can be kind of a pain in the ass to add. check out cumminsforum and go to the first gen section. alot of good info over there.

atleast the stuff done to mine wasnt hurting the trans. but it also had about 5k on a trans rebuild.
i got mine at 295k and sold it at 310k for the same amount i paid. towed the blazer like a cream puff too. my trans was the 518 tho. (727 w/ OD, non lockup) not sure if that makes a difference with the holding or not.
