Figured I'd do a little update on the ol cummins. So far I've put 12,000 trouble free miles on it. All new brakes, all new fluids, bumped timing on pump, next to new cooper discovery 235/85/16's on wheels, load E 10 plies for $80 I have it on the east coast right now. Just popped the bed off and throwing a gooseneck plate on just to haul the empty trailer back to Colorado. I'll build a nice hitch there and make it so the bed can be re-installed.
So, it's just gotten uglier! Figured I'd give an update on the tow pig. I've put 33,000 miles on it this past year! Its been Very good to me. Hauled lots of sheetmetal to the east coast. I did end up selling my original rust free bed back on the east coast. Installed a beat up junk yard bed on it. Felt a lot better about cutting up and damaging this one. I've got the ol girl torn down in the shop again. Doing complete brakes; calipers hoses, pads, rotors, master cyl, upper ball joints, water pump, belt, blah blah...
I've also been slowly finishing the alternative fuel system. A 90 gal transfer tank, and spent another 300 in plumbing and parts to make it a completely separate fuel system. It consists of a low pressure elec fuel pump, dual filter heads and a GM fuel tank switching valve. I used 3/8" PEX for fuel line. I ran the supply line through a piece of 3/4 heater line and tapped that into the engine to heat the fuel in the cold months. This also aids me when I run alternative fuels like ATF or WVO. Here's a few shots of the system
When I have it, yes. I'm making a trip Monday, filling the tank(s) with diesel for this one. Should be able to go between 1100-1200 miles with out having to get fuel
