So I picked up ol ugly.. 92 cummins UPDATE #48

sweet man.

Looks like a cool rig.

Ill take it as a no on the chevy i have..HAHA. No biggie. I may do something with it soon anyways.

I got a soft spot for them too. They make a.great hotrod. With the old body styling. This is a '91.5 I had a few years back. It hauled ass. 2wd. D80 disk brake rear out of an 02. My own hand ground fuel pin. keep in mind I didn't ask for anyones opinion on the rims, tires and stacks. start bad mouthing my trucks, I'll let you know where to go and how to get there. ;)

i miss that part the most. they're sooo light for the amount of goomba they have. especially compared to a newer rig.

That's a super clean looking ride! I like that color combo too! I may go two tone. I'd have to go red or Maroon with white or silver as I have a red interior.

Ok so seems like Trans upgrades are in order. Torque converter seems picky. Thinkin just go for the full rebuild, billet converter, any other suggestions?

billet low stall converter. Either a valve body kit or an aftermarket valve body. research a lock up switch mod.

The 92 does not have a locking torque converter, that didn't come around till later. I have the twin to this truck, right down to the hubcaps and scabby white paint. I am wanting to put a 1994-1995 lockup trans into mine to gain that feature. Lock-up signal is controlled by a transmission computer on these later transmissions but they can be wired through a governor switch pretty easily. Compushift is supposed to be releasing a simple stand alone computer soon that will take care of this as well as the 700R4. I hope to be testing one in the next couple of months.

You can put 12v to the lock up solenoid through a switch. And manually control lockup. Or you can wire 12v through a Hobbs switch on line pressure to control lockup. You don't need the dodge pcm.

We have done the Hobbs type switch via the governor pressure tap on the trans to control lock-up and 4th gear function in vehicles not orginally equipped with this trans and also used the B&M lockup controller to regulate application to specific mph. Even used an extra floor mounted dimmer switch to control functions. This new sytem we are waiting for will not only be adjustable but will be as seamless and high functioning as a factory style computer.:D

so, got a few more things done on the truck. New pads, rotors, strut rod bushings and striaght pipe. well no pipe really, having a new tail pipe made tomorrow. Rotated the fuel pin, adjusted the star wheel, and relocated the throttle linkage. Waiting for snap on to get me an S-wrench to advance the pump. As soon as the budget allows, I'll be doing the dennyT stage 2 pin and 3200 GSK.

You don't need an s wrench to turn the pump. Well I've never felt I needed one. I've turned a few ve pumps.

That bottom bolt just seemed hard to get to. Maybe with a couple extensions and universal joints I could get at it. I plan on pulling it in at lunch tonight and checking it out.

Sweet find. I had a 93 that was turned up pretty good. Smaller exhaust housing, hand ground fuel pin, no spring in the AFC, fuel bolt screwed in as far as it would go and still idle. Pump tipped almost to the manifold, 370 injectors.... (the poor tranny) It had a converter and VB, but still was unhappy.

It would black out an intersection and it ripped. :thumb:

Any issue with no catalytic converter here in the Springs with the emissions? I really want to ditch the stock exhaust on my 05 Dodge

This one didn't have one on it from new. Pretty sure if it came with one, you have to run it "for inspection" I see a lot of guys selling theres using the "get your truck to pass emissions" line on Craig's list.

If your truck came with a cat it must have it for emissions. You already have 4" exhaust, best to just get a 4" cat back exhaust to get rid of the stock muffler, or at very least just ditch the stock muffler for something else... :waytogo:
