So I'm starting to seriously consider a tow rig.

That is going to be sweet , once my cummins K5 is done, I think a ctd crew w a 6' bed may be the next project :D
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of miles are on the dodge and what did it set you back? 2wd right?
Colby, sorry for the highjack ;)

250,000 on the engine
Couldn't believe it was on the list for only $1,500:eek1:
and the CC for only $1000. I think I have a great start.

Wait a minute, $1000 for the cc :eek1:, in that condition? If so, that would be reason 3,247 of "why I hate you west coast rust free guys" ;)

Not a bad deal on the dodge either, I picked up my 94 (engine for my K5) , way worse body damage (vandalism) but awesome miles (71,8xx) for $1500 as well. After selling parts, and scraping what was left, I'm into the engine, radiator, intercooler, and other misc. parts I wanted for about $250-$300 :woot:

Colby , sorry again for the highjack :doah:

I think I need to point something out that nobody has mentioned. People keep saying "454 sucks gas and lacks power for hills", which yes, that's true, but they are stock smog era motors. A nice mild built 454 will make gobs of power and the mileage won't get any worse, or it could even slightly improve. Plus it could be done for much cheaper than a Cummins swap, or buying a cummins truck. A 454 isn't that bad of an option.

big ol' WORD.

Plus a top end and cam swap can be done in a weekend, as long as the bottom end is healthy.

well that is sort of true there is nothing I could do short of a supercharged 500 plus ci big block to compare to the power that my stock 12 valve has or has the potential to have with an exhaust and screw turning and still get the a lot more then 6 mpg.

But if some of you are still not convinced a have a crew cab big block for sale :D

Agreed X2 , plus how many miles could you really expect a BB (with comparable power of a stock 12v) to last?

when i sold my dodge i was putting 433.5 hp to the ground on 35"s, averaging 22mpg (140 highway miles) each day. and had no problems towing anything. that was only with a programmer, small injectors, and a good clutch.

cant beat that with a stick.or a big block.
