So much rust

1989 k5 blazer
Went to drive the truck today after I hooked up a temporary exhaust so I can take it to the shop and have a custom exhaust made the truck wouldn’t shift out of first gear so I hooked it up to the scanner to see what was going on and it seems like the tuner changed the wrong vss he changed the output for an electric speedo not the input so he is going to come by tomorrow and retune this thing so it shifts right where I want it

That's great that you could figure it out quickly. Hopefully it is an easy fix and all goes well after that.

The guy wasn’t able to tune the rear vss right so I won’t really shift does anyone know how to tune the Dakota digital 8000 pluse speed sensor to the computer

This was the best he could do I’m have no idea what needs to go where to make it shift right

After searching for a while I think I found my answer but I will have to wait till Monday to see if it’s right upload_2019-5-31_5-27-22.jpeg

Hp tuners is what the guy has but I found this on hptuners fourm how to program the Dakota digital using bluecat transmission chart I had to find out what gears the speedo cable has and plug it into their inputs and it came up with these numbers so hopefully this will work if not I have to find another guy to program it

I’ve had a crazy couple days of work and haven’t been able to so to the tuner yet but my girlfriend found me this for $50 brand new on Facebook today and picked it up I’m not sure how it will look but the price wasn’t bad

Well finally got to the tuner today and got the speed sensor all corrected but after driving it for a while the truck needs to have the shift points adjusted a bit they are set up great if you get on it hard from a stop it shifts amazing but when your having a slow acceleration it’s shifting gears way too quick at this point I’m just going to buy my own hp tuner and get it the way I like it and will save me on my next project down the line

Broke down and bought my own hp tuners after the guy wasn’t able to get the truck running right and shifting probably I then was thinking maybe it’s the tps that was messing with it but after I checked the wiring to the trans again and checked all the plugs to the trans to make sure they where all functional I came to the conclusion it had to be the tune I figured out he screwed up and was having the truck leave in second gear at all times and had all the downshifts to zero but after a day of tuning it myself now its driving and shifting just the way I want to now I can finally weld up a final exhaust and make this my daily for a while until I have the new quarters ready to put on the truck and that headliner didn’t fit because it’s for a truck not blazer

That's why I try to do everything myself and why I have more money in tools than in parts and trucks

Now that I feel really comfortable driving the truck everywhere I have to do something about the dash so I stripped the foam off and I kinda like the look of the bare metal

So are you going to clear coat it? And then are you going to do something with the door panels?

I’m going to probably tig weld all the holes closed and see how that looks and if it looks good bare metal I will clear coat it but Im looking for a good set now or even making something custom

The only down side that I just thought of is how much glare or reflection does it have? Now that I 5hink about it, I don't know that I would care for having it reflect the sun at me. I remember having a steering wheel in KW that had chrome spokes, I like the looks if it a lot, but sometimes had to place my hand over parts of it while driving. So I wonder if something with a larger surface like that would be similar, even though it isn't polished.
:dunno:

I would make some paneling on it instead.
I like wood panels but for off road vinyl or plexiglas would work.
Or even leather wrapped wood panels

It’s not too reflective but it does get very hot to the touch so I’m probably going to paint it and then wrap it
