hi pinion said:Its your deal man, but if i were you i would sell it , find a clean first gen and put the sickest baddest motor in it you could build, something to the tune of 500 HP, 3/4 tons with upgraded shafts, ,etc, etc, and NO SMOG EVER.![]()

Welcome to the good side.beater_k20 said:jacob, some of us do like creature comforts. my 93 doesnt have power windows, or power locks. and although it does have cruise, doesnt have tilt (aftermarket cruise- factory cruise isnt available without tilt in 93). i'll be heading to the boneyards in the next couple weeks to find the power door guts and proper door panels, and i have an email into the cruise manufacturer to see if its possible to wire their setup to a stock cruise switch. oh yeah, i put a set of Eagle 589s on it on Friday. bodywork will come when my dad gets better. the billet grille to go with the 94+ composite headlight conversion is on order. man, i guess i'm gonna have to go change my sig line. ANTI-BLING just doesnt fit me anymore. what's happening to me? BOBBY YOU'RE RUBBING OFF!!!!![]()

You are going to try and put in power windows? My K5 is a Silverado but has no power windows or door locks. How well do the aftermarket power kits work?
rjfguitar said:Trucks go for different sums in different areas. Do you know all the details on my K5? I may not have some fancy cross over steering or a fancy locker but I have a stereo system that costs more than what most folks have in their front 60's here.
I told the guy I want at LEAST 10K, he said call him if I want to do it. A price has already been decided, if I wanted your help trying to figure out the blue book on my K5 I would have asked you. I asked what I should do.Oh, and you are definantly right that nothing is worth what it costs to build it, thats why 10K sounds about right since I have over 20K in it.

How many times have you mentioned your Weld wheels and tires? Your $$$ stereo? Like I said alread A used vehicle is NEVER worth the sum of it's parts. Unless of course your talking about a "classic" hotrod or sumthin similar. A K5 is hardly a classic.

Hmmm, looks like when I go to do my body/paint I'll be looking for a pair of power doors at the 'yard.try hell. i'm gonna do it. never messed with aftermarket stuff before, but have converted more than one non-power truck of the 73-87 body style using stock parts. everything just bolts right in.
I never asked you or anyone else what they thought my truck is worth....so why are you still posting in this thread? I relize you can't get the same amount of money back out of aftermarket parts that you payed for, I've got over 20K in the truck anyway. Jethro, I ALREADY HAVE A BUYER AT 10K! If I want to sell it, 10K is what I'm getting. Would I pay 10K for it myself? No, I'd probably go for about $8,500 if I wanted to buy it.It doesn't matter what you have in it. It doesn't matter what you think it's worth. If you want to sell it, the ONLY thing that matters is what the buyer thinks it worth, what the buyer is willing pay for it. And yes Bobby, I know enough about your K5 to know that it's not worth $10k. So does everyone else on CK5. How many times have you mentioned your Weld wheels and tires? Your $$$ stereo? Like I said alread A used vehicle is NEVER worth the sum of it's parts. Unless of course your talking about a "classic" hotrod or sumthin similar. A K5 is hardly a classic.
I have somehwere between $2500-$3000 into my D60. Not to mention my time putting it all together, setting up gears etc. Theres no way in hell I could ever get $3k for that axle. $1500-$2000 at most prolly.
No ones saying your truck isn't a nice truck dude- It is. But not $10k nice.
Let me know who smogged it for him.dude, there are places in cali that you can get anything to pass smog. my buddy got a toyota with a blown chevy 350 to pass smog. i will call him and ask where he did it at but there are places out in cali that will pass anything. i think they do it by the engine and not the vehicle.
Z3PR, try and keep up with the conversation....Are older K5's smog exzempt ?? If so, find one old enough and transfer over all your goodies. Then sell the remains. Think how cool the first gens body style is.
Just kidding. Yes, the older trucks are smog exempt, '74's and earlier if I'm not mistaken. Like I said, I don't like 1st gens or the 70's trucks either, I think they are ugly. I like the square fenders and hedlights of the 80's trucks.Um.....I don't want some worthless show truck. I am building an all around nice truck that could be daily driven, restored and clean enough to take to a show, and take it to all the blazer Jamborees and get it dirty. I don't want a piece of junk beater nor do I want a worthless show truck, somewhere in the middle. Just a nice, clean restored ( and modified) truck that can do a little of everything.i think his problem is he wants a show K-5 and we all want to wheel our k-5's. personally i think you should get a newer 88-98 ifs truck and "pimp" and "bling" that one out as much as you want. it seems that for all the shows and street driving you want to do, there is no point in having a SFA k-5. you might as well get a 3/4 ton IFS truck and lift that. they can be had for cheap in good shape, just look around.

so why are you still posting in this thread?
It would also be cool to find a 75 (not a first gen) for 500, do some cosmeticts to it, and throw your junk from your 85 into a 75.

Too much work. I have no motivation to basically swap a frame. Thats more work and time I've got.here's an idea... what's smog exempt? if a '76 is smog exempt, buy a solid '76 body shell and title. transfer all your stuff over, INCLUDING YOUR FRONT CLIP! then you've got the front clip that you like, and its an easy bolt together deal, and smog exempt to boot. could also go for a 73-75 for the full convertable. K5s look sweet with the 81-91 clip on them and a full convert.
So why are you getting all butt hurt?
Anyways, I'm still posting cause I can do whatever I want. Get over it.
Jake, just because you don't like your '85 and want to sell it doesn't mean I should. Granted, your truck does have some money into it, but mine has a WHOLE lot more including hundreds of hours in labor. For heavens sakes , heavens to betsy, just sell that thing and get a 75, and be done with it. So your willing to switch over elctric windows in your 85, but your not wanting to do it in a smog free 75? That dont make any sense brother. It would also be cool to find a 75 (not a first gen) for 500, do some cosmeticts to it, and throw your junk from your 85 into a 75. I think it would make for a better deall all the way around. Especially for a guy like you who has tools galore available.
Yeah, it's a little short and would prefer to take it up to 10" on 35's like my current truck but figure I would have to do a 2" body lift along with the 8" lift and would be more work.8 inches of lift for 35s? Umm....
Could he still do it? It wasn't yourself directly correct? I almost sent you a PM but bothers me is because the smog was due last August, if I am correct, I will just have to turn around and bring it back in August of 2006, two smogs in 14 months instead of two years because I didn't do it right away last year. Besides, after I talked to Baha Blazer he says to just get a PO box in my nearest non smog county and go to their DMV, and transfer it into that county. Works for me, since My family has a cabin in a non smog county with no mail delivery.....it's perfect....it stays at the cabin as a summer fishing and hunting truck but I have to have a PO box because there is no mail delivered at the cabin. This whole thread is silly. I told you last year I could get it smogged for you.
I'm going to try it, if it doesn't work I'll bring it over to you.
I would get asked about once a week if I wanted to sell it. Of course I said no all the time cause it would have been stupid and I would've lost a lot of money. When you can actually read a thread correctly, and not respond to a question that was never asked....then we can talk civil.
