Just got back in from the jump champs event in Glen Helen.
Pretty fun event. With with the guys from the shops and hung out around the vendors booth. Tried to get some action shots in.

IMG_0550-Edit.jpg

So I am kinda stuck on the pedal conversion.
There is another pedal assembly coming that hopefully will work.
A guy sent me the wrong one and I spent a full day trying to figure out why the links didn't line up.

IMG_2409.jpg

After a bit of research i think this looks like early (73+) model mechanical link clutch pedal.
What is annoying is I had to take the brake pedal off because the one on this assembly didn't fit the push rod pin and a few other things didn't link up. Now I have a frankenstein assembly that I can't sell. Powder coated. Super fail.

Hopefully new ones will fit.

What are the differences?

What are the differences?

There are actually several subtle differences.
The angles on the mechanical are off. The push rod doesn't reach the arm. The arm is curved on the mechanical so the pivot angle is off.
What I didn't expect is the brake pedal has a different angle too. And the push rod pin for the brake is a different diameter. That is where my problems started. I had to take my stock auto brake off and put it on the other so everything lined back up.

Nothing has been easy with this thing.

Weird. Any idea why the brakes are different? :dunno:

Not sure.
It wouldn't make sense to have them different.
Also this pedal might before a vacuum setup vs my hydro.
All those GMC luxuries i guess.

Ah. Vacuum pedals are different from hydro pedals. See my CUCV thread for pictures of the two side by side. The pivot pins are in slightly different spots (though one of my pedals had both holes drilled, one was just empty.

Yeah I think the guy that sent it to me was totally off on both accounts. But since I took him for the expert on it I had to learn the hard way. Now I know.

Take a tape measure next time you look at a set of pedals. Hydroboost pedals also have a return spring on the brake pedal, that's one red flag (if it's not present).

That was part of my problem.
The yards here are picked clean. I had to buy it sight unseen. Which is why I was relying on people with expertise to know what they were talking about.

So...what pedal are you looking for? Hydroboost and stick shift? I have a stick-shift brake pedal that is drilled for both styles of brakes. Just move the pin and it would match your rig. And I'd be willing to part with it if that's what you need (it's the one pictured in that thread, I ended up chopping down my automatic pedal and reusing that with the stick shift, as that was easier than moving the pin).

Lots of ways to solve this problem. :)

Yep hydroboost and stick.

I chopped off part of my auto pedal and mounted it into the clutch assembly and it fit fine. It was that manual linked clutch pedal that stumped me. It took me a couple days of messing with it before I gave up.

There is one that should be shipping soon. Hopefully that is the last time I have to order something. I wish I had talked with you before this nonsense. But that is the story of my life. Missed timings.

So the problem is with the clutch linkage? Are you saying that hydroboost mechanical clutch pedals are different than vacuum boost mechanical clutch pedals?

As for the timing, post up a garage thread with your questions before you press the order button. There's a great amount of knowledge here to help avoid screwups (and, yes, lots of us have done things like this, I have a beautiful Borg-Warner transfer case that doesn't share parts with any other Chevy cases :doah:).

I was sent a vacuum boost mechanical clutch pedal assembly and needed a hydroboost + hydraulic linked clutch pedal assembly.

Makes me wish I had just stuck with an auto. :)

You're using a hydraulic clutch, too?

Makes me wish I had just stuck with an auto. :)

No it doesn't. Because you will get these bugs worked out, and then you'll be thrilled with the end result. :waytogo:[/QUOTE]

Hydraulic clutch linkage to what is an advanced adapter bellhousing + release arm + slave cylinder. They require the 90's slave cylinder.

And yes I am really looking forward to having a manual again. Been a while.

The atlas is pushing the drop angle on the trans crossmember down a bit.
I'm not too happy with so much angle but I figure diesel should be okay. Oil pan still looks okay with angle.
Greg at WGF cut some thick metal for me.

I'll try to get some pics of the angle of the trans/motor tomorrow.

I can't remember... is the stock ujoint on dana 60 yoke a 1330?
Have to buy some ubolts for it and can't figure out the size.
