SoCal '85 6.2L Jimmy build

The pedals are in.
I fit tested them and made some nasty holes in the firewall. Because I can't seem to measure properly.
I'll post pictures of them tomorrow I think.

The cross member is in place and we were getting a feel for the fit of the motor.
Caught a dramatic pic of the front.

That's a nice photo. Did you use a filter or different exposure?

I used a canon 60D with a fast lens.
Then i ran it through Nik suite to clean up and sharpen things.

Thanks!
I've been studying and practicing for a while.

Agreed, that's poster material right there.

That's a good idea.
I could stare at this all day.
Actually I did this pic so that I could reference it when I wasn't there. Wanted extreme detail.

Nice work. I like inline engines a lot (more room to work on the side).

What is the expected power output of this engine?

I think stock it's probably 125hp. Similar to the 6.2L.

I would like to get it over 200hp with some turbo and intercooler tweaking.

Those cummins QSB's or more modern common rails looked way more appealing but I just can't afford a $15k motor.

As an update.

The general grabbers off the dodge are going to migrate over to this jimmy.

37-12.5
Method rims.

Time to cut.
Was hoping not too but I'm getting a smoking deal to upgrade the two and want to take it.

Deleted a ton of wiring.

That computer box under the dash on the left side is gone now. It looks like it was engine management.
Is that even worth selling?

Finally got the new pedals in and everything lined up.
Now master cyl for both brakes and clutch are in place.

As you can see my firewall is quite a bit more naked. That load of conduit is off.

The spacers fabbed by Greg over at weapons grade.
Some before and after.
Note: this is the part of my frame that literally cracked off when I first had this. The frame broke at the crossmember when i was going (slowly) over a speed bump at my work parking garage. It was a cookie monster looking break.

Out with the old ugliness:

In with the new good stuff.

What was your original engine? I don't think a 1985 6.2 rig should have had an engine control computer. :dunno:

Yeah it was the 6.2L
All the cables seemed to come out to where the motor is.
I don't think they did much but look pretty considering they were pretty beat up.

The only 'computer' I could think of would be the glow controller, but that isn't it. Alternatively, it could be an old alarm system, or car phone.

Darts at the board.

I will post some more pics.
It had a whole gang of wires leading out.

Had to look it up but I think it's CA specific ECM and somehow related to the orig 700r4

I don't know anything about the diesel side but the California trucks had those ecm boxes in them for smog reasons. On a gasser it would control spark and the computer controlled carb...not sure what they are controlling on the 6.2.
