Soft top installed!

and then there are those of us with ex military trucks, i usually just throw a tarp over it when it rains and the top is off. this soft top would be a factory install by comparison ;)

It looks like these stay very close to the position of the hardtop - I need this to fit over a fullsize cage (fits inside of original hardtop). Anyone have experience or opinions on if this will work?

No idea. But if you build me a cage, I can answer it for you... LOL

It's been a while since I checked the web site but I thought the orange blazer on thee had a full cage?? It was a nice rig and I want pictures when yours is installed.:D:D

1 question i have for you guy's with the softop, or no top. Do you get exhaust fumes with the top down/off? When i drive around with just my rear window down i get choked out bad, My K5 is a diesel tho

I think that is only from the top on/window down.

I think it creates some sort of swirl vortex thing that draws the air in from the rear.

There is a low pressure zone behind your rig as your going down the road (watch a semi on a rainy day) that sucks fumes into the cab. On my school bus I'll open a rear side window and the driver window and will have a strong draft throughout the bus at 55 mph. The rear air deflector that some models got on the hardtop is to push air down across the back to allow fresh air into the cab instead. My 81 K5 will suck in fumes all day long with the rear window down, but my parents old old 81 Suburban that had the air deflector didn't. We drove all night once with it down and didn't realize til we got home.

That looks great I cant wait to get mine. I took the top off last week and I never want to put it back on... The weather in CO is getting nice. Nothing like going round topless!!!!!!!!!

hey 2 dogs , did your soft top come in yet?

I am anxiously awaiting your report on the soft topp and a full cage. I am concidering both a full cage and a soft top myself . and glad your doing the guinny pigging , er I mean up reaseach :P

Please keep us informed .

I have a question regarding this top. It looks like I'd need to remove the support bracket for the spare tire mount from the rail to fit this, is that correct? Or can I re-mount it on top of the soft-top rail? Maybe modify the rail a bit so it will fit underneath?

I just ordered mine and it ships Monday. If this works out I've got a full hardtop painted black and tented windows with brand new seals every where for sale:wink1:

Thought I'd pic whore mine. I hope you don't mind.

Do you have pictures of how you did the install? I have a 91 k5 that I want to go full convertable and do a soft top like yours. Was it difficult? Looks great by the way!!

It really wasn't that tough. I use a wheelchair so I had a 14 year old and an 18 year old nephews do all the work with a back and decker drill and some wrenches:D They are not mechanics but have been around. Just follow directions and don't get in a hurry.

TREA18. I love everything about your blazer. That is awesome. I hope to have mine as a full convert with a soft-top. I even like the color - scheme. Do you have a build thread on this?

EDIT: nevermind...just found it!

Know real build thread if you have face book you can friend me AND see about a hundred pictures of fixing it up on there.
