Source for new Michelin and/or military tires?

CDA can't be the only one who has ran these.

I ran them on my green rig,

I put about 30 lbs in them, aired down to about 3-5 or 10 lbs

Loved them, not noisy, no flat spotting from my accounts, last forever, really tuff side wall and i would not hesitate to leave a spare tire at home as long as I can reseat a bead on the trail. They actually had some nice sidwall flex aired down too.

also I ran them on stock new chevy hd polished wheels and I got some of the tires from dealer tire here in phoenix, cost about a 120 each for a like new or new tire

kadillac, I'll keep you in mind. Seems like the easiest place so far is eBay but I dunno. I'm still looking around locally.
Have you tried any commercial truck dealers in your area? I know the Canadian military used these and uses the 325/85R16 version on their LAV armored cars.

supersize, man, thanks! That's exactly the review I was looking for.
Dumb question but any idea on the backspacing of those 2500HD wheels? I was surprised when I measured my OEM 16.5's today and they came out to like 5"!
Did the center hole fit over the manual hubs without any machining?

nomachine work is needed

the back spacing is like 6 and 3/4 inches, not real interesting to most people lifting their rig. they are crazy light and hold up comparable to the h2 rim, but they chip around the lips if you are into rocks..also it leaves the hubs exsposed and I trashed one hub to the point of failure from rock abuse while driving out with no clutch:D it was made for an interesing trip trying to drive out on one axle shaft and having to start in gear non stop..

anyways, I have thought time and time again about using these tires on my HD but I would if I were you i would order a 8 inch rim back spaced to 2 to 4 inches. on the blazer it tucked the tires in which took a while to get a feel for how stable the truck was or was not at times..but it also kicked butt for the tight turning and tight trails. skinny tires rock is my over all vote, they dig well, I had no complaints on the grip in rocks and the narrow foot print was less breakage on my locked dana 44, where as with the swampers on the same set up I was always breaking shafts. I broke zero shafts in 9 trips..for me thats unheard of:D

the narrow tire while it looks a bit odd, and having a smaller foot print does have draw backs in some terrain it seemed to work well. and with the tire and aluminum wheel it felt just as easy:D to muscle on as a 35 inch bfg on a steel rim.

cant beet the price considering it should last more than twice as long as any other tire for driving use.

My issue is that I want the tires under the truck and it has no lift. If I go out too far the tires are into the fenders but if I have them too far in then I have the same problem I have now...tires mangling my forward drag link end.

Hrmph, the local 'yards want hundreds of bucks for those HD aluminum wheels. I can order aftermarket aluminum wheels off of Summit for $100 each...
The local yards even want $50 each for the HD steel wheels. I can get aftermarket steel wheels for that much brand new.

I had 11.00x16 michelins on my cucv with no lift. Required a little trimming on the lower front and back of the front fender. They were on stock cucv wheels and they didn't hit the drag link at all. The back fit fine, even with 4000 lbs of gravel loaded in the bed. I cant say if they will hit severely crossed up off road because I never was in that situation. I think they are the perfect tire for a cucv, fit pretty good on stock wheels with no lift and tame those 4.56's.

Nice. Got any pictures BARRAZA?
Details on the trimming?

What air pressure did you run them at and did you ever measure their height/width?

Now to find some 16" wheels...

Cant find any pics, maybe on my old computer. The lower rear of the front wheelwell was trimmed back to the inner fender, front side of wheelwell was trimmed about the same amount. I usually ran them about 35 lbs on the street, they have an incredible load capacity 4520 @ 80psi, but aired up that much they would probably ride like concrete. Each one weighted about 125lbs including the steel wheel. They are without a doubt the roundest and best riding 38"+ tires I've ever been on, mine were about 40% tread and the worst one required 4oz to balance. The tires are in the barn, so I just went out and measured the following:

16x6.5 rims, 4.5 backspacing - mid eighties cucv
Approx 38.5 tall unloaded
10.5 section width
9" tread width

this truck has a 4in. suspension lift i believe. i would recommend a 2in. or 4in. suspension lift on your cucv because it would get rid of those crappy backwards bent front springs (at least my truck's stock springs were like that) and you can flip you rear ubolts up at the same time. Just get some rear blocks and front springs. Cheap, easy, better offroad, and looks better. Shouldn't have to mess with the driveshafts either.

A lift is in the future...but it's a ways off. The problem with a lift is I have about 5" of verticle clearance until it won't fit in the garage. So I have to be very selective about my tire and suspension choices. We're here for a few more years so the lift is a ways off. I'll probably only go with a 2-3" setup like ORD makes/sells when I do. I'm not all that hard core anymore so the truck gets used to haul stuff from the building supply store more than offroading by a large amount.
Depending on how it ends up after the tires there MIGHT be either a 1" lift from Zero Rates or a 1" body lift with new bushings.
Damn, that is one destroyed XML...

BARRAZA, dude, if you can find some pics that would be great. No pressure though, I have a pretty good picture in my mind of what you did.

Im getting spec's and part numbers for my friend that owns a tire store here(michelin dealer) so he can try and find a set. I barely ever see them on ebay and if I do they are in cali or texas. There was a guy in montreal that used to have stuff up on ebay like crazy but I never see his ads anymore, and there was a guy also near minneapolis with lots of military tires I never see him on there anymore either.Im going to keep looking,or maybe I might get lucky at the automotive flea market here next month.325/85s are supposed to be 38x13x16 which unfortunately would be too wide for the rear of my dually-I am limited to 9-16s or possibly 11-16s

You know the funny thing is last week when I was looking everywhere for the 9.00R16's there were several sets of 11.00R16's on eBay...now there's one and they're brand new, pricey, and in a bidding war:crazy:.

AJM - awesome avatar.
Thank RJ for that.:D

My 46"s from Berg fell apart. They were early 1990s vintage. Always check the date codes before you buy. I now have some (maybe the only ones) 12.00 R20s that were the late, great willyswanter's for my blazer. 44" tall 12" wide. :D

I need some 11.00 16 XZLs for the new tow rig. Anyone got a phone number for etiresmarket1?

Thank you for asking.
Sorry, we don't have is this time...

They haven't listed any Michelin X series tires in a few months now.
