Spindle nut torque warning!

So not Harbor Frieght:whistle:?

I don't know where to get Craftsman anymore. Lowe's will be the place hopefully.

Funny how this topic popped up right around the time I'm getting ready to swap out some axle Shafts. Never messed with a front axle before so this is making me pay more attention. I'm going from stock shafts to 35 spline. I won't have to replace the spindle nut or anything else that's not worn out right?
If you’re tearing the axle that far apart MAW change the spindle bearings and ball joints if they haven’t been done recently.

I forget the show she was on moons ago with that guy who's name I forget. I do remember her getting real sick, turning white and a little out of it. She just kept working. They had to stop her send her to the hospital. I believe her appendix burst. She's a tuff one

I have a oem brand socket from the auto parts store that's probably why. I have tried to put pressure with my other hand on and it still slips.

Xtreme 4x4 with Ian Johnston. Was a decent one.

Pinion nut is 160. Spindle nut is 50 while spinning, back off 3/8 of a turn, then 35 while spinning, back off 1/4-3/8 to line up washer, then torque outer nut to 50.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here a suggest Northern tools line of tools...."Klutch"

I had to replace the ball joints on my 07 Dodge Dually 4x4....as well as converting the front hubs to freespin. If anyone out there has done this job,, you know what I mean when I say you don't want to scrimp on tools doing this project..it takes a massive ball joint press,, pullers and sockets to pull the entire job off... I spent over 2000.00 in shop tools alone. . the ball joints we're like 600.00 for the set, and the freespin kit was 2400.00.

So during the rebuild, northern tool became my best friend... I bought a new 3/4" breaker bar, 1/2" torque wrench.. several large black sockets, extentions, an I/R die grinder and a
I/R 1/2" drive "Thundergun"... a new floor jack and an engine hoist..

I was impressed with northern tools line of
Klutch tools..nice quality and finish...The torque wrench came in a nice plastic case
adjusts easily and torques bolts just as precise as my snappy ... I tested it by torquing lug nuts and a few other things...first with the Snap on and then the Klutch...both clicked at the same setting...then reversed the test...both clicked at the same torque..
I purchased the Klutch because the upper end torque was higher than my old Snap on, plus the old snappy is just that....old...probably over 30 years of torquing bolts...
I last had it certified about 5 years ago..so I trust my own little test that I did against the new Klutch torque wrench. .

There are two socket designs. One that has the tits on the outside of the socket, and one that has the tits on the inside. I only had the outer one, and it sucked. I found the other style, and now don’t have a problem.

That sounds like my issue, I have only ever seen that one with the tits on the outside

just watch your self on inner nut pin clearance of the ring for the nut . had one years ago made cheep and broke my pin off it was to close

My socket had the tits on the inside, surrounded by a metal ring--which sheared off when I let someone borrow it and they used an air impact to get off the stripped spindle nuts--they were able to weld it back together though..the tits are kind of rounded off not and it'll slip unless you push inwards on the socket firmly while torquing the nut..

I found a K-D socket that looked never used for $2 in a box of assorted tools at the flea market..bought that right up!..it's the other style with the 4 prongs cut into the socket's walls..
