Squarebody Mega Cab

Suburban transforms into crew cab short bed
Yeah, the cup holders would not work for me.

Like the seats though for sure.

For what it's worth, you can bypass the computers in those fancy seats and make the fans and heater elements manually switched. I have 2014 denali seats that i'm retrofitting in my blazer and started poking around at the fan system. It did not take long to find the power wire that lights up the fan. Connect both fans to one switch with the right amps and put the switch wherever you want. On mine I am going to stuff in aftermarket heater elements since they are sort of a wear item and I don't want to risk wiring those up and having them go bad. All in i'll have two switches and 1 or 2 relays to power the fans and the heating elements. The electric motors for movement were super easy to wire up on my 2014 seats. All i'm giving up is the 3-level settings for hot/fan and I can live with that.

At the end of the day, all those fancy seat parts are just 12V switched power.

@Polymath good to know. Maybe my issue with all my searching was that i was wanting to use the factory switches that came in the center console for the factory look. Funny that so many ppl said the newer fancy seats couldnt be tricked. Glad to know you are in process of doing it!

Well technically they are controlled by the climate control computer so you will lose that function.
You will be using then on or off, no modulation

saw a video of this today, looks like almost a full suburban with a bed, had what sounded like a Cummins in it.

Yeah, I think you're right. They just got creative with the Suburban body work and changed the very back of it.

I think this is what trips up so many people. If you WANT to use all the computers and have the multiple heat and fan settings and have them work in tandem with the climate control system, then yeah, good flippin luck. I don't think anyone has figured out that whole package hack yet. Point is, you don't HAVE to do that. I suppose if you were so inclined you could make your own digital control box to modulate the heat and fan amperage remotely from the dash or something. I'm no electrical engineer, so i'll leave that to more experienced folk.

I need to sit my ass in 00-06 denali seats and get a feel for them. They look really comfy, and ive heard they are way mlre comfortable than the newer seats. The 20+ high country seats were my original plan, but I’d hate to spend the money and them not be comfortable for long trips. And the rear folds up not down. I want the fold down like the square subs, and the 00-06 do that. All avalanche seats do that as well. Theres a really clean 09 rear seat near me, ive been tempted.

So, the thing with plush car seats that feel like a comfy couch when you first sit in them is that after an hour everything has warmed up and compressed even more and all the support is gone and it's a bit more like sitting in a dish. Newer seats have stiffer foam and more support, so people plop in them for ten seconds and think they are too stiff. But if you sit there for ten minutes, they warm up and conform to you pretty well.

For trips under ten minutes my '02 burb seats are fine. For anything longer, the newer seats from the 20-teens and up are WAY better.

I like the seats in my '16 enough that I plan to put some in my burb too.
Only odd part is the back seat as mentioned.
You'd have 2 sets of different style seats.

There's a difference between GMT800 seats. 99-02 are flatter and squishier, the '03-07 are basically just like the '900 seats. I like the seats in my 900 and are a good compromise between squish and support.

In my experience, they're opposites. The '03-'07 seats never break down the foam, but the leather gets trashed. The '900 seats never tear, but the foam compresses over time. I only know the SUVs, but I think the front seats are basically the same in trucks.

Here are pics of the ad, it’s rough but sort of cheap by today’s standards.
