starting them early 1972 K5

nothing major but i at least did something with it today lol.

bout 2 months ago it started wanting to die at stops, hadn't really had time to do anything. today (with fresh snow) i took it into work and changed the plugs and wires also found a vacuum leak. now she purs again.

plugs looked good that i took out

also got my upgraded headlight harness installed.

not a big update, just installed a cheap tach, took all of 10 minutes

one thing I hate about auxillary light switches in the dash is that they are usually hard to reach. say you have them on, here comes an on coming car, trying to reach the switch before you blind them. I had the idea to do this in my 4runner but since I got rid of it and will be putting the LED light bar on the K5, here is what I did with a low profile lighted rocker switch.

now with my arm on the arm rest it is within finger reach.

our oil rep at work came in today, threw down a cash offer of $6K for the blazer, I didn't even hesitate............ NOPE

I get asked all the time. NO is such an easy answer even after all these years. Last month some guy asked me for a crazy sell price after I told him 40g's and that I had at least 25g's into her not counting years of labor he just said well it's a nice ride and have a good day. Was it something I said:dunno:

lol ya I told him it would take a whole lot more money than he was offering me. you are correct that NO was so easy to say.

crawled under it today to pull and fix/mod the rear bumper and noticed how bad my body mount rubber is so tomorrow I will order a set of poly bushings for it.

ya so this happened this morning

there was a man hole cover (of sorts) over that in my driveway, I went to leave for work and as I started rolling across it I hear cracking, I said a colorful word, then the whole corner of the blazer just dropped. jacked it up with my handy man jack and backed up letting the jack kick out. no damage but I was about an hour late for work.

ah, the old plywood manhole cover. How was the city supposed to know that wouldn't last?!?

its been a while since I updated this, we moved to Elko, NV. for a promotion with my company. at the same time as I was moving my company was transferring a service truck from the old branch to the new branch so I drove it and pulled the blazer behind it.

I have been daily driving it since, but 2 weeks ago my optima shorted out, then it wouldn't charge, pulled the alternator and bench tested it 3 times myself and it was good, checked the wire running to the battery and it was good, cleaned all my grounds, went to replace the voltage regulator and the plug had vibrated loose. all that for a simple loose plug lol.

i picked up a 1990 suburban a couple months ago and since then this has sat in the back yard, I had started it a couple times, about a month ago the battery was dead so I charged it up and had started it twice a week. this Thursday my wifes car goes into the shop and she has an interview the same day, so I told her she can drive the suburban and I will drive the 72 (she wont drive it). sunday I pull the 72 out of the back yard, wife tries to turn her car around in the back yard with the snow and gets stuck so I pull her out with the 72.

Monday morning I go out to head to work and I get 2 slow cranks and a bunch of clicks, dead optima battery. of course the way I have all the vehicles and how our driveway is I cant get any of the vehicles to the front to jump it so I end up having to pull the battery from the suburban and put in the 72 just to make it to work.

I have an aftermarket battery gauge wired in and it shows it is charging at almost 15 volts, wonder if its overcharging and killing the battery?
