Stock height rear 52s (TURNED TO FORD 57" SPRING INSTALL)

Now a question for you leaf spring guys... How do you figure out how much bump travel a leaf pack can withstand without overbending?

You can cycle them sure, but without knowing the limits, whats the point?

25" & 32" sounds about right. I run the short side forward and us a EZ inch to move it back more.

I think i am currently in the center hole of my ruffstuff spring perches, so I should have another inch to move it back... Which in theory should put the axle exactly where it is at now with 52s....

Payday is thursday, I think ill give it a shot.

A good rule of thumb is to make the leaf pack flat. That's your limit on compression. I have flexed many stock packs and bastard packs past flat. They don't last long.

Ill give it a shot. Only take a few minutes to swap them, and see where im at.

Might as well as I havent stretched the u bolts out yet. Id rather not order another set.

I got antsy....

I got no time to wait. I hope they get here soon

Interested in these.

I don't really have to tell you to post up cause well whore and stuff

U know I will.

Between the 3 hole ruffstuff perches, it's spring plates, and diy shalckle flip, I should be able to get them to fit well.

I'm sure you cover d this in your whore-moungus thread. But have you looked ito spring under? Some sprung under 64s would kill it. Yeah it's more work but you could figure it out. Either way we will see how the set you ordered works out and go from there.

Id rather link it than mess with that.

I could link the rear for under a grand. But if I can basically bolt some leaf springs in for $220.... Might as well try lol..

Yup I killed a set of 52s and 56s with no bump stops quick. Since I have them bumped when they get flat I have 4+ years on both sets.

My buddy went from 56s to Furd 57s on his Toyota. Not much difference in a crawler.

What are you trying to accomplish?

Ahh ok and without adding lift? I assume your 52s are pretty flat at this point in their life?

Correct.

My 52s are fine, but I know with the bump stops set at 4.5" of up travel, they will be much more neg than flat at full bump.

Hopeing these are a cheap bolt in solution to get good travel without redoing the suspension again.

Why not just space the bumps down and keep running the springs that are in there? What makes the replacement ones better?

More travel.

I already spaced the bumps down 2 inches from the cans. See pic in first post.

I welded the cans in to set up for up to 6.5" of bump travel. Why not try and get closer to that?

More travel is better in my book, and a 5" longer spring must have some more travel in it....

Little higher arch in the spring and with the shackle length angle you should be able to accomplish that number fairly easy.

Hoping so. I'd like to get rid of the spacers completely. Or at least shorten them more. If the bumps aren't up all the way, I'm just wasting shock travel and dampening.

Tempting.... Even if they dont work out for me, the price sounds pretty good

Itd be $221 with bushings shipped to my door for a pair.... HMMMMMM

Just ordered the same springs. I considered waiting until I heard from you on whether it was a good move but its 80 bucks a spring and plus I don't like waiting :D

2 big questions now is whether I will need shims or not and if the spring eye bolts are 9/16 like 52s and 56" springs. I know the newer ford springs came with metric spring eye bolts.

My plans are to run the long side forward to gain wheelbase and get a better departure angle. Hope this does not point the pinion to the ground.
