Drove the blazer around today to a few old body shops that do lots of resto work on old cars/trucks to see who they would recomment to fix some small issues with the blazer and give it a looking over also.
I have little to no time for anything, so all this will be done by a couple shops. Truck drives great, but i just want to make this thing as reliable as possible, safe and driver friendly before anything else.
Here is the list of things i should be having fixed this week.
1. The most major would be the leak between the 700r4 and the transfer case. It fills the case and then leaks out the speedo cable area from what i can see. AAMCO will do it for 400 bucks, this includes the seals on the front and rear of the case.
-QUESTIONS: I have heard that some transfer case's use tranny fluid, while some used gear oil. Anyone know what it should be in the 72?
2. Steering wheel is a little loose and the turn signal lever does not work, just kind of flops around.
3. Entire ignition is loose, i have to hold it while i turn the key to stop the whole thing from turning.
- #2 AND #3 Are being done by an electrical place who will also check out the rest of the wiring, as the truck has electric fans, tranny temp, oil temp, tach, and volts gauges, B+M shift controller, etc...just to make sure everything looks legit, safe, etc....
4. Not a necessity, but i want the front end steering checked out...probably go ahead and replace tie-rod ends, and other joints.
After all that, My plans are to put the lift that i have on which is...
4" EZ-rides, 56" rear springs with ORD lip and longer ORD HD shackles. Then add some new Bilstiens, steering stabalizer and some 35" All-Terrains. Hoping this should also smooth out the ride alittle. The 32" mt's and old shocks are a little rough.
