Story of two '72 K5's build

Figured that I "Might as well" take the fender well's and core support out to make it much easier with the limited space. This will also let me clean everything up, get a bunch of detail work done while I have access and replace all the front hard brake lines.

Uh oh.......

Beware the "MAW" sneakification!

Thinking about either getting some of the Al's Liner Heat and Noise reducer to line the firewall in

Or the Lizard skin noise reducer.

Lizard skin has Noise and Heat, but are seperate products and I think are spray on only. While with the AL's both heat and noise are the same product and can be rolled on.

Want something that i can paint over to the blue again also.

"MIGHT AS WELL", Replace all my body mounts while I am in here also:doah:

I'd like to see what you end up going with for the liner also. My plan so far was to use the LS on the bottom with both coats (heat and noise) and the Al's on the interior.

From what I've read the LS can be painted. VT used it on his last build and painted it the hugger orange. I thought the Al's you actually had to tint the liner to the color that you wanted to though. I think Bigbadchev has sprayed something like 20 gallons of it so far, might be a good question for him.

Just got up with AL's and since the nearest dealer is 55miles away and claimed that he didnt deal AL's products, AL's called me and said they would sell me whatever i wanted at wholesale price and with free shipping.

So I have some of the Heat and Noise reducer on the way. He told me that it is real easy to paint over to whatever color I want. So I will do the Firewall while the engine is out now, and paint it to match the truck. Then when I get to Cali I will do the tub, and then AL's bed liner over the top of that.

How are you getting this thing to CA?

TMO? I have never PCS'd but from what I understand they will transport a vehicle so I plan on doing that and driving the other two. If not, Then I will have to leave it here with the In-Laws, Fly back and make a road trip.

They'll pay for one, but NOT a lifted vehicle with more than 4" lift... Can't remember if that'll effect you or not.

For reference, the Als liners is a hard rubber so it flexes. I wouldn't paint over it anywhere that flexed or got walked on since the paint would probably crack.

Well she is right at a 4" lift so I hope i am good.

Its not the bed liner that I am putting down right now, Just the sound/heat reducer. Dont know if it will be the same or not. But thanks for the heads up.

TMO will not pay you to ship a vehicle. You and your wife rate mileage for 2 vehicles.

It cost me 1200 to ship my blazer from jax to amboy with some 235 rollers on it.

Well i found out what color the blazer used to be.

If you look on the firewall side of the footwell area you can see it.

I've always really liked the teal on the pickups, but not so much on the blazers. I like your dark blue:waytogo:

Stripped as far as she will go...Ready for cleaning then re-assembly.

Found the RYOKEN green at a local Marine store which was a plus.

I HATE WIRE WHEELING...

With the rust and grime gone i sprayed on the ever famous RYOKEN GREEN.

Probably wont be able to get back to this until Wed. But then i plan to do the body mounts...messing around with the idea of the 1" body lift. But once that is done, I will start putting her back together.

Steering box area OK?, now would be the time

Sure is...I made sure to put the paint on extra thick over all the cracks just to make sure:doah:

Ha Ha..yeah i checked it. I do also like the fact that my truck has one of those added braces from the factory.

FYI,

Once you get to Commi-fornia it might be a bigger hassle to get that Ryoken green paint.

Maybe SBD or other Nor-cal guys can confirm, but many items are restricted from shipping into CA. It will be worth checking to see if you should hand-carry a few cans when you finally make the move.

I have only seen that stuff on this web site never in person. Commie-fornia is right. Seems much like our State rock asbestos California is slowly becoming a long term cancer causing entity. I can however leave my windows open all year long (no bugs) and I only need 1 pair of long pants for emergency's.
