Subjective Sensibility

A handshake agreement and a 2500 mile drive later, I have my work cut out for me. The goal is a reliable camping and hunting truck with good off road capability and potential for a daily driver.
Part number 334307 seems to be discontinued
Anyone have one left over from a disc conversion?
I have a 14SF van axle out of a 1993 G30 passenger van that will be going into a truck box trailer. I won't need any of the brake parts. If you can look up the part number for that application, and it matches what you need, you can have it.

I didn't know that g30s got a sf axle.
I thought it was just the heavy 3/4 ton
 
As for an update, I did get the chunky bastard all covered in POR15 last weekend. The drums turned out to already be turned and clean already. They just had some light surface rust on the inside that comes right off with a bit of steel wool. I'll have to get those painted too, but the past week has been wicked cold and I didn't feel like heating up the garage for paint to stick. It's well into the negatives outside, so the garage is barely above freezing most of the time. It takes a lot of propane to heat it up.

I just did a disc brake swap and have two loaded backing plates off my 14 bolt that were in good shape and had been rebuilt. Do you need a part off them still?
 
I think i'm set for now with that last part Wes is sending out. I'll holler if I come up short but practically every other part comes in the full drum rebuild kit. Thanks!

In other news, I got the other side of the brakes put together thanks to the help of @Wes Harden and @CharlesC83.
I am still waiting on the pinion and crush sleeve eliminator kit so I can dig into that end. I'd say there is a non-zero chance i'll get this axle under the car this month.
 
Yup. That's 3 days of work and 27 days of waiting on parts. Like that 1.5" socket I didn't know I don't own but just discovered I will need in order to remove the pinion.... Time on the weekends is really all my life allows right now anyway.

Barring any surprises, I think the biggest decision left to make is if i'm going to shave the bottom lip off and get a beefier cover or not worry about that right now. I really want to, but I am having trouble talking myself into needing it. It's just that it would be so much easier to cut and grind with it out of the car.
 
I go camping in fairly remote areas with deep rutted dirt roads. Tree stumps might be a concern. No rock crawling though.
Removing the lip is not only for the extra clearance but removing the hook that grabs everything in it's way.
Having a smooth bottom help a lot in your case.

This was fun. It did NOT want to come apart but it looked really good on the inside once I cleaned it out. The seal had been doing its job. Also really happy I have a lathe. I had to trim a lot off that socket to get inside the new yoke. They did warn about the tight tolerance but it was way thinner than I would have imagined.

Got it all back together and later noticed that it was dripping with a relatively empty housing. I guess the new seal isn't sealing well? I'm done for the day but it looks like I get to take this thing back apart to figure out what's going on here. It was aimed pinion-down, but I had thought the seals would hold in any fluids, especially new ones with practically no fluid in the housing anyway.

that may be oil going through the splines in the middle
Yeah, I started putting silicone on the splines and putting a thin layer under the nut and just barely squishing it, let it dry, then snug it.
Never had a leak there since
 
That's a good idea. The video i'd watched about rebuilding the 14BFF did not mention anything about added silicon. They just pressed it all back together with new seals so that's what I did. Now that i'm familiar with it I think i'll go ahead and tear it all back apart to add the silicon for peace of mind.
