Suburban Rock Sliders

Never thought about sliders till I got a suburban. Can you take a picture of underneath where it's mounted? I'd like to see if welding a mount to the frame is something I want to do.

This is how mine are mounted. :)

If your body is still stock do the same but put a tie in of sorts to the the pinch weld. That way the body will help support it.

thanks for the pic, that helps.

Somebody else posted this and I screen shot it. I'm going to do this for my cage and build my sliders into these.

Muddy, those are really friggin nice. My fabrication ability is no where near that level.

How long have they been attached to the sheet metal like that? I have alot of cage flex and that might help. I feel like it would rip the body though.

The sheet metal is a bit thicker on the rockers. The rubber lets it flex with the body. It is only there to help support the end of the rocker.

Muddys are nice from what i remember. I went to the body myself. Liked how the turned out. Somewhere in my build i have pictures of mine.

We get requests for suburban sliders from time to time. One of those products, you just about gotta have a clean suburban to do the design work with. So far I haven't had a clean suburban to do the design work with. Everything out here in the Midwest, ain't much rocker left on them.

Sorry.

Muddy what thickness is the plate that bolts to the frame?
1/4". Everything but the round tube is 1/4", the tube is 1.5" .120.

A few years now, I check them every time I'm under there. No crackng yet. The rubber bushings keep them from rattling against the pinch weld on the rocker. They sit about 1/8" off the pinch weld and they rattled horribly on dirt roads, or rough pavement. I use them pretty well, I drag everything.

Is the design not the same as a K5 but longer? I could supply good pictures and measurements to try to get something close.

My take is either cut out the rocker and weld in a beefier piece to drag on or frame mount the rocker but leave the pinch weld separate. Muddy's compromise seems to work well and gives some room for the body to flex around still. Fox put a big wrinkle in his quarter panel on his K5 with nerf bars bolted to the pinch weld since the frame and body still tried to move separately. We run up through the floor to the roll cage feet, then they become part of the cage/chassis structure and have some good support when you set the truck down on a rocker.

How long would you need a Suburban? I've been rattling around sliders in my brain.

Most likely. But it won't be right away but before blazer bash. I'm in the middle of an axle swap.
