Super Swamper SSR questions/opinions

[ QUOTE ]
1/2 ton and 3/4 ton stuff is the same width.
I told ya. SSR's were cool! /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

That is not true. 3/4 ton front axles are 2" wider than the 1/2 tons I do believe.

I personally wouldn't want to own a radial Swamper. My plans are to have A/Ts for the road and keep my Swampers for trail only.

[/ QUOTE ] So I'm right? or Tim? I always thought they were the same width. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If you are looking for something more aggressive than the ProComp MTs the Xterain isn't it. It has a milder (tighter) pattern. After seeing them in action I wouldn't buy them for off road duty unless you plan on groving them. This was on some muddy (clay) powerline roads, in the South so you might have different experiences out in CA.

I think the SSR's are what I am going to go with, but now the wheel offset is throwing me off...do I run 16x10's with 4.5" offsets? If so are my wheels going to be sucked into my wheelwells? Or are the 3/4 ton front ends wider by 2" and will counter act that?

I know for a fact that the 3/4 tons are wider.

I'll PM Dr. Watson to get in here and get you guys the exact figures, he's who I learned this from.

My tread stick out in the front about an inch or so sidewall sticks out couple more inches. The rear tread is even with the top of the fender. I'll get soe pics in a few days of my 37x12.5 SSR's mounted up /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

OK just show me some proof. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Hey MTBLAZER89, what size rims are you running? What running gear..1/2, 3/4, 1 ton? The way your front sounds is just right, and if I got rear spacers the back would set also. Like to see those pics. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Yes, lets get some WMS comparison dims! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

So Tim, What you are saying is that a 3/4ton 10B is 2" wider and that means that a 3/4ton 14BFF is also 2" wider than a rear 1/2 ton 10B right? So if you had a 1/2 ton 10B in the front and a 14BFF than they would be within 1" of width of each other. This doesn't sound right to me, I thought it was a D60 that was a little wider. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I'm running 15x10's on 3/4 ton with 4 1/4" backspacing /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif This is the best pic I have at work I have some at home from the front

I know the 14B SRW is 67.5 WMS to WMS and it's ~3" narrower that the front so the front is ~70.5"

From the Dana 60 Bible /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

All SRW Chevy D60s are 69" wide wheel-mounting-surface to wheel-mounting-surface (wms-wms).

Well then why don't my tires stick out more after the swap? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

So a 3/4ton 10B is 1.5" wider than a D60? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
So whats the width of a 3/4 14BFF compared to a 1 ton 14BFF?

I doubt it, but I got that D60 measurement from the 60 Bible on Pirate so it probably correct /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif 10B D44 prolly the same as a 60 /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Too many numbers damn.... these are the numbers I just got off of offroaddesign.com
6 lug 10 bolt front - 67 1/2"
8 lug 10 bolt front - 69 1/2"
1/2T van rear - 68"
14 bolt (10.5) rear - 67"

That would mean the rear 10b would be 64.5" wide which makes some sence. What I noticed on wheels that are built for the 8-lug setup have 4.5" offset, the 15's that I have on my 6lug are 3.5" off set, that basically puts them in the same place w/respect to the fenders, just got there a little different way. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Hmmm /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif I still never saw the difference, but I guess an inch on each side prolly isn't even noticeable /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Maybe you are right tim /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Yeah the Van 14B will equal out the rear tires to match the front /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Ill settle this... Ive got a 10b and a D60 sitting side by side at the shop. The measuring tape dont lie- I can let yall know in a few. Ive also got a 14ff Ill measure for the record. stay tuned
