Superburb906 submitted a new Build:

Superburb3.0

I'm new to the forum, but I figured since I just bought a completely stock suburban, why not try and document it. I'm starting to build my recently acquired 1989 v1500 suburban. I pulled it out of my co-worker's brother-in-law's father-in-law's barn, where it had been sitting for the past 12 years. This is where the fun begins.

Before we loaded it onto a trailer, we wanted to see if it would run. Miracles happen right? We gave it a look over, and found a few wires that needed to be fixed before we hooked up a battery. Some mice were hungry and decided to chew up the injector wiring. Once all the wiring was looked over we threw in a battery and some fresh fuel and tried to fire it up. Cranked fine, but wasn't getting any fuel. Luckily a local parts store had a pump in stock, so we replaced the fuel pump and it started right up. Drove it onto the trailer with no issues and hauled it away.

Paint came out fantastic!
It really did! Its really convenient having an awesome detail shop around the block that trades out work. For the most part it was protected against the sun, except the rear barn doors. they were exposed to the elements the entire time it sat. Considering the paint is still really good, a body shop may be able to repaint and blend the rear doors. we will see.

So what are the plans for it?
Well rough plans are beef up axles/ 1 ton swap, Probably go with progressive rear springs to smooth the ride. Ive been debating on front coil over conversion. eventually it will be on 37s. I'm going to build a winch front bumper for it, and a swing out or down rear tire carrier. full length roof rack with a light cage above the windshield. Then once the old 350 gives out, if it ever does, i will most likely LS swap it. Interior plans are pretty basic, might put some mastercraft racing seats in it, just because the factory fronts are pretty wore out. Of course plans change with different ideas.

I'm liking where this is going. That paint turned out amazing. The methods and toyos look slick on there.
Thanks! I do have a thing for the polished standards. I have them on my 99 2500 as well. But I'm most likely going to get a set of bead locks for it. Haven't made a final decision yet.

Had some spare time this last weekend to swap out the fuel tank. The original one had quite a bit of debris on the bottom. Not surprised considering there was a half tank of gas in it for the 12 years it had been sitting. With the fuel tank, pump and fuel filter changed, It started right up. It idles fine and the throttle is super responsive at idle, but when i put it into gear there is a slight misfire and i can tell something isn't right. Hopefully i can get a fuel pressure gauge on it this weekend.
