oh, and an xj shaft for my steering....

Dana 60 and a 14 bolt out of a cucv for ummmmmm well not quite free.

Story is this I have a freind who was had a small mechanics shop, he got the customer from hell I spent about 20 hours helping him fix the problem to the customers satisfaction ( Don't ask) I also helped him around the shop with other things as often as I could. His Uncle had a military pickup we went and got it so he could try to get it running for his Uncle. Never could, he was going to keep the axles for himself. Another customer comes in with a blazer wanting a lift and 3/4 ton axles with a locker in the rear. He says he will sell me the one ton axles for 500 plus my 3/4 ton stuff (I got them for free and bought a used detoit for 250 bucks plus my xover steering) I tell him I don't have 500 he says no worrys you can pay me later.

Fast forward a month he comes over to help me get them in and says to me you have helped me out a ton and have never asked for anything from me so just forget about the 500 you owe me!!!!!!!!!!

So basically I traded some labor (which I would have done anyway) and some 3/4 ton axles for a set of one tons

Other deals I have got just for helping poeple out a free 90 suburban with a blown motor, a free 86 3/4 ton with a 4 spd and 205 that ran I drove it for a year (it was a one ton had 3/4 ton axles), a free 73 cab and chassis 2 wd with a 4spd and a big block ran, half a dozen transmissions or so that were questionable, an 89 blazer with a blown motor and a decent long block 454.

All things I think are worth something and gives me a chance to help poeple out when they need it too.

No pics to prove it but...

Freebies -

running 400/203 (203 range box going in my K5)
4spd (going in my K5)
roll cage

Smokin deals -

About 10 yrs ago, TARussell, myself and some friends found 6 CUCV's at a surplus salvage shop in Auburn Al. purely by accident. They wanted $250 per axle, $250 for trans/t-case combo or $750 for complete truck. Together we bought 1 truck and all the axles. :D

There have been other great deals along the way but that one always stands out. :pimp:

sorry i meant to put "70's" but i missed the s. i know it's a 73- 80 body wise. and no figure eight pattern. odd i know. my 74 has the figure eight pattern. i'm assuming it was swapped in. want pics?

so i bought the burb for $800. it had 87k on the 350 with a th400 np208, 14bff locked d60 with brand new hubs and rotors and wheel bearings, 8" lift DIY4X shackle flip and 40" swampers

the firebird i bought from a girl who had it 2 months. she paid $2300 and crashed it. she said it wouldnt pass smog. i bought it for $500 and went to the junk yard and got a hood and a front clip for $200. tuned the carb and it passed smog like a champ. had 98k on it. iv had it for a year and she still runs.

No pics but a nice almost set of NEW BILSTEIN shocks for my K5 from some one here. Thanks again Bro you are the best :bow::bow:

I have done business with The National Corvette Museum several times and had referred some people to them for parts. The guy had listed a pair of NOS tail lights for our trucks on eBay. I bid on them for extras. When it closed he found out they were both left hand Tail lights.

He asked if I needed a left and right. I said I was just buying to have extra but could use the left any way. SO whats he do he sends it to me free. Wouldn't take a dime even for postage.

I guess my current K5 counts. It was free. I traded some parts that I had no money in for it. When I got it back in 02 I was told it needed an engine. It was driven to my house running bad. I found bad plug wires and a couple other little problems.

I had $300 into it when these pictures were taken. $100 to transfer title and get plates, and $200 in tune up stuff and a few other things. These pics were all taken 2 weeks after I got it.

Set of 2500HD 16x7 aluminum wheels. $60 at a Jeep gathering last May. Guess none of the jeepers wanted them and the guy originally threw out $100, my buddy asked about $80, and I said $60 and had the cash in hand and he took it. Some surface corrosion but nothing some scuffing and spray paint won't fix.

Thanks to Dremu and tRUSTy Big Ugly now has a cold air intake.

Jeesh man, how many K30 trucks do you have now?

Back in 98, I traded a 67 El Camino 8.2" 10 bolt open for a 12 bolt posi just because the guy said it revved too high on the freeway (and he didn't know what he had nor did he care). In 04 I got a free 79k10 w/ a plow and flew out to upstate new york, picked it up (gave the plow away to this old guy) and drove it all the way to Cali in 3 days, ended up driving it for 2 years until it wouldnt pass smog anymore.
