How soon can you put antique plates on the blazer? It makes insurance real cheap if you decide to put it back on the road. Mine is 164$ for my Camaro annually, but in mass we have to be 25 years old and the car has to be 25 years old.
BTW ryoken, did you see that old bomber flying around down your area yesterday? I was in Ortley Beach for the weekend and there was what looked like a B-52 doing some runs up and down the beach.
hmmmm, no... and i would generally see that kinda stuff from my marina..... I'm effectively across the rt 37/seaside hts bridge, right on the bay...
I did see a silver b-17 running north up the beach a couple yrs ago.. think that one may have been coming up from the AC air show... I also hear they run A-10 over the beach south of where I am, but I've never seen one..
what I see ton's of, are helicopters, but alas, nothing cool...
oh, ok, that's another 17.... sweet..... missed him tho... strange, i was at the marina from 8 to 3 too... probably the prettiest bomber ever made.. pure classic lines, the huge tail is amazing looking...
The bomber was flying a ride-along. They're at the airport in Wall off of R34. There till Monday morning. There's a B-17, B-24 and a P-51. 12 bucks to walk through and actually go in the planes. Rides are like 400 bucks for a 30 minute ride in one of the bombers. Couple grand for the P-51 but you get some time at the controls. Very cool to see in person. Hope you're skinny though cause the bombers especially the 17 are a tight squeeze to fit in.
WWII, four piston (gasoline) engines, bunch of .50 cal Machine Guns, ~8,000lbs of bombs, 10 crewmembers or so, 300mph or some, and fly 2000 miles with a ~4000lb bomb load. Retired in the late 40's. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_B-17_Flying_Fortress
B-52
Late 50's until today, EIGHT big jet engines, no longer have a tail gun, ~50,000lbs of bombs/missiles/weaponry/DeSoto's/kitchen sink/whatever, 4-5 crew, 550mph and fly around the world with aerial refueling. Still kicking ass and taking names. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_B-52_Stratofortress
I have been thinking a lot about what I want the Blazer to do and where I want it to be. Right now, The truck is at home and it is just sitting there.
That being said, I think what I am going to do is sell it. I want to get a 6.2 truck and eventually build it up to be a reliable wheeler and decent driver. My truck now is okay, but I want to get something a little cleaner and something that I have a clean slate to start with.
I think when I get home over Thanksgiving I am gonna try and clean it up a little bit and get into the process of selling it. Hopefully whatever I can get for it can go into a new project and have a fresh start for me.
