Swettysblazer's 1991 K5 Trazer: ONE TONS!

Thinking about going with a truck tailgate on this once I get everything all squared away.... Anybody ever done this and have anything bad to say about it? I know its a pretty straightforward swap, just wanted to see if you guys had anything leaning one way or the other to say.

Yah, how do you keep the back sealed up?

Or you gonna get a softop or somethin

That's what I was wondering, I know a lot of guys that do this go with a softtop. Honestly though, I doubt the carpet is ever going back in this... It's nasty. I was thinking of a few window ideas, but idk how well it would seal like you said.. .

But you would want the back seat right?

And just an FYI, won't be able to lock it up with the truck gate...
Don't know if that really matters to you...

Yeah, I wanna keep the back seat. I mean who knows what would go on back there

But I'm not too worried about locking it. If I really wanted to I could figure something out for that.

i did it on mine its stupid simple and the weight savings from the k5 tailgate is ALOT!!! soft top would deffinitly be the route to go if you swap to the truck tailgate otherwise the exhuast fumes would blow in through the back window of the hard top. also very nice to be able to pop the tailgate off whenever you need to. i always thought that maybe someone would make a hatch that operated sort of like the older ramchargers so you can have a basic tailgate without the window inside it.

It is very simple to go back to the Blazer tail gate. Use the pickup tailgate in the summer, swap the Blazer tail gate back on for the winter.

Martin

straight forward, get all hardware, no complaints

you already discussed the cons

:waytogo:

Thanks man, I think this is whats going to happen.

Good idea Martin, I didn't even think of that. It's good to know they're interchangeable.

Took some more pics of the rust today to show you guys what I will be dealing with shortly.

Get you some cut off wheels, a wire wheel, more cut off wheels, some flap wheels, and maybe a few cut off wheels. Did i say some... Oh wait i did :D. And dust masks and safety glasses.

Nope not really. I wanna tear into it now, but I head back to school Thursday. After I graduate in May I'll hit it good.

Just a reminder for you of what the tailpan SHOULD look like.
