Swettysblazer's 1991 K5 Trazer: ONE TONS!

How do you like the gladiators? I've had them in my eBay cart for 6 months but have been too cheap to pull the trigger.

I like them, they're decent on the road, didn't take much weight to balance (surprisingly) and off road they're good. You need to air them down a lot to get some bulge. They have a pretty stiff carcass, but so far to me that is the only drawback. For a cheap, aggressive, big tire I am happy with them. They get a lot of looks on the truck.

Thanks! That's good to know! Have you had them on ice or packed snow much?

A little update on this truck. It was running like butthole, so I rebuilt the TBI, did a full tune up including plugs, wires, cap, and rotor, changed the IAC, changed the coolant sensor, and it runs better now, but when it first starts up it has a BIG miss. Any ideas? Coil? Module? I am pretty stumped. Once warm it runs real good though....

Also, I have been chasing a T-case leak for a while now. I changed the rear output seal and it didn't help. I bit the bullet and pulled the transfer case out of the truck Tuesday to find this:

Not good, obviously. I called my buddy who owns a big industrial fab shop and he said he could fix me up. Here are the results:

I haven't put the case back in yet, but it bolted right up and looks good. I am going to build a skidplate to prevent this from happening again.

It does. It's one of my best friends, so we have a good relationship when it comes to stuff like this. I do need to figure out why it happened though. I don't think it is bottoming out as I have a lot of slip showing on the yoke. Maybe it's too short?

Yea that is common on those. At the time I did not have access to someone who could weld. So it ended up taken 3 cases to make one good one. VSS and speedo versions will bolt right up, they are different internally.

I have a line on another case for a spare, so I am gonna get that one and hope for the best.

So update, first wheeling trip is this weekend :pimp:

I had a huge oil leak. Wound up being the back of the intake. I pulled the intake, broke the front driver side stud in the head (it was rusted in there somehow??) and was able to get it out. Cleaned everything up, slapped it back together, no leak. It was my first time doing any moderate motor work besides valve cover gaskets, so this was a huge win and learning experience for me. Also the first time I took the distributor out. Not as scary as I thought. Wound up rebuilding the TBI a few weeks ago and getting a new IAC valve. Didn't help the running rough issue. After the intake job, I was getting a TPS code. I tested the sensor, found out it was bad, replaced it, and re-timed the motor. Now it runs like a champ, idles good, and is leak free for the moment.

Also, tube doors.
