who has tapered their bed/body? some tips or pics would be awesome. Do you leave the wheelwells where they are and cut them on an angle? What did you do to overcome the ridges in the bed when the sides are angled in? Anyone adjust the ends so that a tailgate still works? PICS PLEASE!

details? it looks like you cut the floor along the frame rails and threw away the inner fender liners and outer portions of bed floor. then supported the bedsides with the tubing.

Thanks for the pics.

How far in is that? If I do it it will be all the way in to the frame rails.

Well mine is a bit different as its a blazer frame with a truck cab. The part of the blazer floor that is left is now gone. Its in about 22" IIRC. I basicly took the bedsides off the rest of the bed and hung it all on tubing. Im in the process of mounting my radiator and fuel cell back there. Then Ill make whats left into a floor.

careful. its starting to look like a jeep with those flat sides.

What does the inside look like?

I've been told that before but it fits on the trails better and keeps the mud out.

mine back--cut the floor completly out and just cut the inner quarter panels all the way down 1' rear of the door and a pie shape on top. folded it in welded it shut.

a little less extreme is my friend Zeke's

and rear. he completly cut out the wheelwells and cut a pie shape out of each side of the floor, folded in the fenders and welded them shut. to keep the structure in the back he tied the tubes to the fenders.

those are exactly the kind of pics I was looking for. thanks. did you remount the wheelwells afterwards? I never even thought of tapering mine before I started thrashing the bed. looks like you took a nice bed and hacked on it.
