There’s the chance using the coat hanger method that it’ll be 180 degrees out of time since it could be coming up on the exhaust stroke, I like to put a finger in the spark plug hole as you turn the crank with a socket, when it pushes your finger out of the hole then you’re on the ignition stroke, then line up the timing mark and then line up the rotor pointing at #1.I sometimes use a 8 inch long piece of straightened coat hanger, stuck in the #1 spark plug hole. Then turn the engine over with ratchet and socket.
When the coat hanger gets pushed out, and the timing mark is coming around, you know you got #1.
Then, line up the big timing mark with the pointer.
That's it!
Pull the dizzy, and drop it back in, with the rotor pointing at #1 cylinder.
You may have to turn the oil pump rod to align the slot with the dizzy.
Apply spark plug wires.
BAM...DONE!
