Teck's '86 K5 Build -5.3 LS/4L65E swap

I'm ready too.
Worked on it for 6 hours last night, most wiring stuff. Ever time I think I'm almost got it close, I find more to do.

All I gota say is keep up the great work. Its good to see I am not the only one with truck OCC. When I get my red one back its getting the same treatment but an 8.1/4L80E!

Thanks
Nice truck, that thing will be a beast with an 8.1. I had a 2001 CC with one.

I know that feeling! I think, "welp, im pert near done now!" And then reality come and shows its stupid head and reminds me of all the rest of the stuff i need to do for it to be "done"...

Here's where I'm at after working on it this weekend a couple of time.Got about 9 hours in putting the harness back on the motor untaping, looming and pulling the wires out to the computer connectors that should be needed.

I would like to know how you put this much time into a truck and stay married. I guess some women are just understanding.

She is most of the time, had to spend 5 hours dress shopping with her today.:doah:
Also work on it late at night sometimes when the family doesn't need me, I do what that ask most of the time, so I can get time to work on it.

She also knows that it is getting close to running, so she is ok with it.

Ana this is the truck that I was driving everyday when I met her too.:D

Damn is it bad when you have to take my kids beach towels to cover my blazer so I don't mess it up?

And I just need to mate that wiring mess to the truck and it should run. Thats how close I am to getting this thing fired up.

Looking at flowmaster mufflers should I get 40 or 50 series?

Maybe It's just my old age that's getting to me but on my burb I have a cat and a 50 muffler on it and i don't like how loud it is. It's really fairly quiet and sounds bad ass but I just get tired of cruising around town like a normal person and instead I'm "that guy" that has an exhaust system on his truck. Any more I prefer as quiet as possible. If you go to my you tube there are a bunch of videos with the exhaust sound of the flowmaster.

lol, I hear ya man! I remember loving how my blazer sounded and gunning it occasionally as I went under an overpass just to hear it, but these days I get as quiet as I can. I just want to drive in peace and quiet.:rolleyes:

damn us old bastards!

I used to run glass packs and thought it was the coolest! That was when I was about 16-18. Now I'm still only 25 but that amount of noise got old quick to me. There seems to be three type of folks out there as far as exhaust preference goes. 1 like it all the way loud, 2 like a mild rumble, and 3 like it pretty much stock. I'm about a 2.5.

been driving hotrods for 30 yrs now.. a ton of hotrods... exhaust has always been a balance of keeping it sane but nasty.. it's varied over the years from headers, glasspacks and turndowns to duals with a x-over and 50's..

I miss the old days when it was not much of a big deal, driving nasty stuff around.. I mean fock, Harley's have come stock loud as he!! forever.. nowadays they'll take $783 and your first born for running open headers......

but anyway, I wouldn't want anything bigger than a 50 series on a modified vehicle.. it's tame enough, but still sounds somewhat menacing when into the loud pedal... and it's a pretty large muffler as is, the super quiet stuff is too large for my logistical liking...

I like the sound of a good throaty sports car.
Mild be nice when you get on the go pedal.

There is quite a bit in this video of my exhaust. Its a flowmater 50 with a single 3" in and dual 2.5" out. Sounds pretty good i think.
