Teck's '86 K5 Build -5.3 LS/4L65E swap

Just been trying to go over thing and finish up some small stuff so I can get it over for them to finish up the wiring.(Scheduled to go tuesday as of now)
Mounted the mega fuse fuse block on the firewall and run the battery wire and alternator wires to it. (Top wire is there for now just to get power inside the cab.)

Mounted the computer on the driver side wheelwell.

I was just thinking, does this mean these guys are going to get the first start? I mean, they gotta verify their work right? Why are you taking it to them anyway? Just not 100% comfortable with doing that side of the wiring?

Not 100% sure of what all I need to do to make it a standalone harness and they are do the computer program for me. When it gets to that point I will be there because I already have a license available on my EFI Live to install the tune, so they can't do it without me.

I could probably get it figured out, but most of my research all show how to do Gen III harnesses not enough Gen IV stuff that I feel sure about what all I would need to be doing.

Gotcha. That makes good sense. I also keep forgetting that genIII and IV are different animals. How long are they supposed to have it?

About a week. He did not want it until they got a more open schedule so it doesn't have to be there any longer then necessary.
I will be watch and checking on everyday.

been driving hotrods for 30 yrs now.. a ton of hotrods... exhaust has always been a balance of keeping it sane but nasty.. it's varied over the years from headers, glasspacks and turndowns to duals with a x-over and 50's..

I miss the old days when it was not much of a big deal, driving nasty stuff around.. I mean fock, Harley's have come stock loud as he!! forever.. nowadays they'll take $783 and your first born for running open headers......

but anyway, I wouldn't want anything bigger than a 50 series on a modified vehicle.. it's tame enough, but still sounds somewhat menacing when into the loud pedal... and it's a pretty large muffler as is, the super quiet stuff is too large for my logistical liking...

Is that from experience? :D

Cool man. I so cant wait to see this truck done! I think the only other truck i was this excited to see done was THUNDERUSONE's burb!

Is that from experience? :D

:haha:

I'm glad someone caught that attempt at humor....

you shoulda seen me when I first moved back to urban, uptight, New Nazi from the farm in Pennsy.. running my nasty lifted Power Wagon, headers, glasspacks and turndowns.... people would pull over on Rt 22... :haha:

I did get a ticket in that era for "intentional loss of traction" for doing a wheelie in my duster in front of a cop car.... :doah: I don't even know if that's one that's still on the books....

Hey Paul, is that like the fast and furious episode where they do a burnout and a wheelie at the same time during the 40 second long 9 second pass? :haha::thumb: You didn't have any intake bolts pop out of your floorboard did you? :dunno: :waytogo:

(I'm just messin', I believe you had a car that could wheelie)

Well did you get it dropped off? If i remember right you said you were dropping it off tuesday.

stupid thing was it may have spun a tire rotations worth... :haha: I was grateful to be getting that as opposed to reckless... :doah:

72 Duster with a nasty 340 and a 3 spd manual... That car launched harder than anything else I've ever been in... the 3 spd being the key..

Nope it is going tomorrow as of now.
Call the only exhaust shop around that I know that can do mandrel bent stainless exshaust. They won't even give me a quote without seeing the truck. But said if its not street legal it's the only way to do it without cats. No tags no inspection comes on a trailer leaves on a trailer.

Man, I cant even fathom being able to have a custom, mandrel bent, stainless exhaust. Blows my mind just thinking about it!

It's going in the morning to get the wiring finished and tuned.
