Teck's '86 K5 Build -5.3 LS/4L65E swap

What about teck1?

Glad to see the thing together and on the road. been following this one since I came to ck5, and its neat to see it come together.

Wow rear disk calipers hang on the way to church tonight. Felt something wrong then started smiling something then saw smoke. Not sure what happened but they did come loose after I got out in a panic. It did cook the powdercoat out of the fines of the rotors.
Guess it could be worse.

Teck,
I noticed that after my LS swap my front end sits about 1" inch higher than it used too. I was hoping that maybe the front end still hasen't settled after being on jack stands for three months, but it's still not coming down :-)

Mine looks a tad higher also after it's all done. i did take the springs apart to have them powdercoated. They have settle some but still looks high sometimes in the front.

hey man, just read the entire thread, what did you end up doin with your transfer case cross member? did you have to move it at all to mount the 4l60e?

After thinking about some of the issues I had yesterday, I went to the shop to check them out. The overheating issue was do to the fan running backwards, it was pushing air not pulling air. Then the plug wire on #5 was loose and not staying on the plug. So the running rough was from all this. Went for o short drive and it seem to run good and the water temp stayed around 195.

Wow that thing is clean   awesome job Teck :waytogo: Better then new comes to mind :D

How about "TECK 5" for the plate :pimp:

Tomorrow will be 26 years since I took delivery of my Blazer on June 6 1986 from the Chevrolet dealership.
Hard to believe that I still own it and can now drive it again.

Just ordered new plates for it. This is the one my wife liked the best.

Took it back to the exhaust shop today to get the other flanges installed before the mufflers and an adjustment to the drivers side by the tanks shield where it is to close. Then when I get it back I can get the pipes and mufflers ceramic coated to finish the exhaust system off.

On my way there.

So you went from a stock 700r4 to a 4l60e, the advanced adapter adds 1.5" in length and vss, the 5.3" is about 1.5" shorter then a 350 small block, so your stock 700r4 transmission cross member didn't move at all with a 4l60e? thanks a lot man.

No I didn't move any of it. The frame was paint and the body was back on the frame when I decided to do the 5.3/4L65E swap. So moving it was not an option for me. Did the research and used the dirty dingo motor mounts to move the motor back. And the advanced adapter kit to make the tranny the same length as the 700R4 and give me the vss the computer needed to make the swap work.
