Teck's '86 K5 Build -5.3 LS/4L65E swap

Went around the block to check on ceramic coating for the new exhaust.
These old tire ride like wagon wheel. New radials next.:doah:

Quite at idle with good tune as you get on it. Not really any louder then the tires at a cruising speed. Only drove it a mile or so around the block to the shop to check on getting the ceramic coating done on it.

Sounds like it's just about right then. Glad you got it back.

Still can't get over how clean every single part is underneath. Awesome awesome work Teck.

Thanks.
It's kind if net to see people wanting to just take picture of it like they have never seen anything like it before.

Its because its a thing of beauty and glory! Most people HAVNET seen anything like it! Its most amazing to me that there is a guy out there with the time/money/dedication to put something like your truck together! We appreciate your hard work. So is there anything else(besides possibly doing the ceramic coating on the exhaust) that it needs to be considered "done"?

Well, you're driving a newer than new older vehicle that isn't a classic car. It's definitely not something you see everyday, and it's damn cool. That thing could/should be on a magazine cover.

There are lots of small things to do to it still. It may never be finished.
Still wait the on the rest of the crossover steering parts from ORD
Needs new tires real bad.
And it was hot today so I guess I will finish the AC soon too.
And start find the little thing that need fixing and adjusted now that it is running
Touch up all the spot that that need it after building it.

It my be cool but I'm not sure it magazine cover material.

Dont kid yourself man. If ever there was a truck that belongs on a magazine cover its yours! Its an 86 K5 Blazer built by its owner. Not some 2012 F350 sponsored show truck... Anyway, i think you said it already but what tires did you end up deciding on?

Thanks
Looks like I will have to go with super swappers
One of the only ones I have found in a 16.5 so far.
Or I will have to buy new wheels also. Not sure I want to spend that much cash on new 17" wheels right now.

Looking it some 38x15.5x16.5 Super Swamper
What do y'all think about that as a tire choice.

Once again Teck, very very very nice job on this truck, and don't sell yourself short, it is spectacular and is very mag worthy material.
I like my TSL's pretty well, even half worn out they run down the road pretty good for a 40" tire. I think the 38's would be a great choice. Jess has run the 38's before, he might have some insight to the road manners.

Radials
Look like the best choice I have found to run on my 16.5 x 14 weld wheels.
Not sure I like the new welds and $600.00 each for 17 x 12 is hard to shallow at this point.

Y'all all may be right about my K5, but that is not what I intended it to be when I started putting it back together. I just wanted to clean it up and make a nice toy to enjoy like back in the old days when I drove it everyday.

I guess I just look at it a little different then others since I have owned it all it's life.
