Teck's '86 K5 Build -5.3 LS/4L65E swap

you have got me lookin at nos stuff on ebay.... some of it is just stupid. $1000 for a gauge bezel? $400 for a set of headlight trim for an 80? no way. but it is addicting to look.

when you first did up your headers, i remember you had to send them back to get a 12 degree modification..... does this look like yours before the modification? its pretty close to the transmission.

what did you do about your dip stick? the bolt that holds it on hits the header flanges now. i got a lokar dip stick, but its gunna be way too short and the oil calibration is way off, even though its for a 99+ chevy truck.

thanks man

Not sure from your pics if yours is as close as mine was. Look back at post 539 and see how it looks compared to yours. Then look at post 621 to see the collector they made 12 degree. They did offer to remake the header but I just had them make a collector.

Worked on trying to got the passenger door to fit better, also had to adjust the front fender forward so the gap would line up. The bottom has always stuck out some, more then I would like. Got it some what better but I wish the bottom would adjust in a little more. Not sure what else I can try. Cann't adjust the front bottom of the door in any more on the hinge. It fits pretty close in the front, its the bottom in the back that want adjust in enough.

Now that hunting season is over I figured it time to work on the K5.
Started prepping the the new vent window assembles for paint tonight.
Trying to get all these new parts ready to go in the doors.
New Nos vent window, inside door handles, and outside door handles and gasket

Super clean shot by the way, I wish I was the same stage to have fitment problems. Damn that is such a beautiful truck, it literally makes my eyes water, no bull****.

Those look super nice.
Thanks. I just hope they have no wind noise when I get them install. I have never been happy with the cheap gasket I got to replace the original one when I started my rebuild. The passenger side has had bad wind noise ever since I got it running.

:haha: Things I would never think about with my truck! But, when you have one as nice as yours, it makes sense. There's nothing louder than the first rattle in a new car...
