Teck's '86 K5 Build -5.3 LS/4L65E swap

No I did not. They had been gone for years. Not sure I need them for mine but I guess some 6 mil plastic or something behind it would work. I did the foam as a sound deading material.

Looks great Teck, nice work. Awesome you found NOS parts.

I noticed the same thing with the cheap LMC weatherstripping I installed, it bound hte motors up so bad I had to replace the motors, and its still pretty slow but at least it works.

Changed out the rear window seal that goes in the top with a gm nos seal.

The one on the top is gm now one the one on the bottom is aftermarket form LMC. What a difference between them.

Finally got to get the K5 out after months of rainy weather.
It was 29 year ago yesterday that I bought it.
It was nice to drive it around this afternoon.
New windows are working great no more wind noise from the cheap vent window seals that didn't seal good so nice to now have the nos stuff installed.

That K5 is amazing. I love that you have been able to find a lot of NOS parts. Excellent work, Teck.

Thanks, I have been a weld wheel guy for years. I have always preferred the soil window look.

Looks real good Teck :waytogo:

...and I hear you there, I still have the same issue you had.

Speaking of teck, anything new with the truck? If I remember right, you had most recently been replacing all your aftermarket stuff with nos stuff. How's that going? Still looking for more stuff? How about also any notably good/bad aftermarket stuff you came across during all of this? Like stuff that's an acceptable replacement for oem vs stuff that's just complete garbage. Might be fun to hear about.

Haven't had much time to spend on it lately. It had a belt squick that was getting so bad I didn't even want to drive it, but I found the problem last week and think I got it fixed. The belt was riding barley on the front curved edge of the tensioner pulley that came with the AC bracket kit. Put washers behind the bracket where it bolt up to space it out. No more squick so far. I just need a little to spend on it. I do have a few more parts to change out. Not even sure What else it needs at the moment. I need to figure out why the tailgates so tight with the gasket on that I can get the handle to open it. The only way to open it is by pulling the rods already broke the original handle and found a new one on eBay and that didn't fix the issue.

That is sooo cool! I still have one of those hood caps off my first truck and a Rancho front axle truss. The truss will probably be put on the one I am building that is a twin to my first one.
