Teck's '86 K5 Build -5.3 LS/4L65E swap

That line was original sent to the charcoal canister up front. It has a valve that closes, only if the Shinny side is up.

Yes
Even bent it up as high as I could at the sending unit
Teck,

What did you end up doing with this? I'm considering the purchase of a Vetteworks tank. ($700, GULP!!!) I'm planning on using the purge solenoid and some kind of charcoal canister. Do you suppose that that would fix that issue?

Haven't done anything to fix that problem yet. Just don't fill it up more 3/4 of a tank.
Been way to busy to do much with it, just try to take it for a drive and check a few thing on it every month.
Hope to get a little time this spring to fix the little nagging thing on it and drive it more.

Hey teck!
When I get mobile again from this damn back surgery can we get together
see if I can get you to come my way and check out the build for pointers

Especially this issue above

Got my seat back this evening from being recovered. Now I can finish the interior this week.:D

@Teck
Where did you get the covers and did you have the foam replaced? I have the same color and need to get that done still.

NTXJIMMY,

Got my back surgery done yesterday in Arlington.

I'd like to meet you as well. Maybe the three of us can get together somewhere and you guys can get me steered in the right direction for my old truck.

Sorry for hijack... carry on!

Rob

If I read correctly, the AC is all factory controls? Do you have any idle issues when the AC comes on? I had read (long time ago) that Gen 4 stuff communicated the AC on/off via canbus and could cause it to idle poorly. I'm trying to read through and figure out how you did your AC, but 68 pages is making it hard to find haha! Care to give me a cliff notes version?

Just read your build from post one. An adventure for sure. Every CK5 member has already told you twice how exceptionally clean and detailed your truck is, so I will go ahead and say it again. It exists in some narrow plane between an '80s FourWheeler Magazine cover truck and a concourse restoration.

How much better is the 5.3 than the old small block?

The 5.3 run really good with lots of power.
It is nice that it just starts up and runs with no problems even if it sits for awhile.

Sweet!!
Can't wait until mine is rolling
I would love to see them both rolling down the road for a DFW meet up

The consistent start and running is one of my favorite things about my LS swap. Power is nice, but no hassle running is freakin' sweet.

Great build. Wondering how close the bottom of the sump of the oil pan is to anything? The gen 4 oil pans are about an inch shallower than gen 3. Also, with the dirty dingo mounts and energy replacement inserts, was any notching required on the factory crossmember? I'm trying to keep my K5 factory ride height and suspension

One more question, what radiator hold down plate is that? Thanks

No notching done to the crossmember
Not sure how the bottom of the pan clear the front axle with no lift.
I have a 4 core big block radiator. That is a factory hold down plate for an 85-88 big block radiator. Part # 14018600

Amazing build man! I hope mine is that clean someday! I just went through this whole build page by page and it looks great!
