Well for work i decided to step up and be as much under my control as possible .

No more buying from middle man and always thinking is it brand A or B sealer in the tank . Or is it to THICK or to THIN .

From now on it will be under my control and my own problems if i screw up . And starting in this game making my own mix ratio i am happy to go back to this setup getting bulk concrete delivered to me .

I found a deal a old school tank made from 2 8ft wide x almost 22ft long sheets of 1/4"steel rolled as 1 ring. Then 2 of these welded together to make 16ft long barrel . The ends are also 1 piece ends at 1/4" thick also .

Well i know what i have seen in home built bulk tanks and did not like rhem and it also would not fit my needs . So i looked around at professional built units for STUPID money $36,000.oo and up delivered .

I asked a few places and friends for help drawing up in CAD for my design based offa bit of others and some of my own ideas . Best response i got was some guy off a truck site i frequent a lot . . . @kennyw

Little quick work and some crude drawings and few questions we come up with this idea and design and he even gave me a loaded weight distortion calculation .

Had the local BIG custom steel shop plasma cut and bend the plates for me . And i picked up the 3" i.d. scd40 for the cross members and main mixer shaft . Then i grabbed some 3" c-channel 3/16 for the mixer arms off the 3" shaft .

I have been gathering parts and info based of pics and parts brake downs of other brands of units . Tank pic like i am building .

27.75" dia gear 112 tooth #60 chain . Main sprocket for mixer shaft . Oh and 82lbs alone . Thats a 12oz Gatorade bottle in the pic .

2-7/16"shaft bearings for mixer shaft . Found some old school top quality bearings .

Big hydraulic drive motor for the mixer drive and its a little 12 tooth unit . It all adds up to 9.33:1 drive ratio .

The scale is a little exaggerated on the deflection plots.

So is this a stationary at home unit only?
This is a bulk tank made for just sitting in one place . Only reason i am using wheels is for when its empty and need to move in/out of shop in off season . If full its almost 60,000 lbs so moving with sealer in it . They do have semi trailers for onsight BIG jobs the plants will drop for you for a fee . But i do not need any of that stuff . This is for my level of work is all .

Do you plan to support the tank with the lift while tack welding everything? Or tack welding the base together first?

Going to just do the base and set tank on . Will go check gussets to make sure same radius just to be safe otherwise burn and go is the plan .

That's a lot of work to set this up.

Don't forget to check with your state laws around large tanks like this. They may regulate that it has to be in a containment, have certain size vents, spill response plan, and have so many bonded grounds.

our sealer is water based . no hazmat for bulk tanks or onroad tanks. most of us using home made tanks do not make them air tight so no vent required . also this stuff is non flammable being water based .
