Drop the front drive line out and made it 1.25" shorter. Ground down the weld at the yoke with the edge of the grinder wheel until I got close enough it discolored the tubing and I could find the edge.
The rest is self explanatory, make sure to clock the u joints flat before reassembly
Also checked diff oil, and romped it around in 4H behind the house with the hubs locked in. Made sure everything in the front was kosher lock-lock under power

You should come down and spend a couple weekends working on mine... You're speedy
Moab, 42 days...
I'm a bit motivated to have it ready.
Added bonus of doing a shakedown run Saturday, trying to have a much done beforehand

Moab in 42 days would probably do it for me too I guess. I'm usually the guy that is finishing stuff up right before it goes on the trailer. Usually end up having very little failures like that other than my nerves being shot...

They guy in the first picture watching me is Vic. Thats his jeep in the second photo
Thats me watching him, about 15 years and 40 pounds ago

Note the old school ColoradoK5.com sticker on the tailgate

I`m a bit nervous commenting anything on your thread for fear of you turning it around to make me look bad!?? :haha:

I like what you`ve done to the truck! Some really cool mods for sure! :waytogo:

Just wondering why you decided to build a standard cab truck? The one reason I don't put much time in to mine is that it only fits 3 people, and I wouldn`t even want to do anything technical with someone sitting in the middle, especially with a standard.

Just only two people in the cab always... sure its perfect but...

You got kids don`t you?

A whole crap load of kids (4, 3 teens and a 1yo ) But only ever have 1 that goes, and Mrs Bent stays home. But I can take 2 campers with me, that's all I'll ever enlist anyway

Reality is, I had this truck already.
Before the 72 came around, my original plan was to build this truck (in 2001 when I first started getting into this)

I like the standard cab. It's easy to heat winter wheeling, can actually store things behind the seat. Easier to see out of.

This allows me 2 fuel tanks, so 40 gallons (planning on some long back country trips ala Larry)

Some, but not planning on hammering on this one as much. It's not going down the hardcore trails
