Hey Guys!

So I'm new to the forum and I picked up my first Chevy truck (Always been a Jeep guy) a couple weeks ago and I figured why not start a build thread. Don't expect anything fancy or this this truck to be done in 3 months. I bought it to keep me occupied this winter while my wife is away.

So ya I figured I'd name this build The Bionic Bunny... Due to my current medical condition that allowed me to have TOO much free time on my hands to cruise KIJIJI. Thanks Kijiji :D

So here is a little back ground on the truck. Previous owner was a 65 year old guy who lived in the middle of nowhere and had owned it for over 10 years. His wife wanted the truck gone so bad that she even offered us money to take! He even had it delivered the 125 km's to our house for free. After we signed the paperwork I'm pretty sure he went back into his house and cried!

The registration says it's a 1987 Chevy 4x4 with a 305... After giving it a good look over I found a D60 front and 14 bolt rear stuffed under it along with a carbed 350 :D It has an auto and an 208 t-case. I'm guessing it has a 4" DC suspension lift along with a 3" square tubing body lift. Too bad that the 36" Swampers were weather cracked and useless along with the rusted out exhaust. Everything is oil covered from it sitting around since he didn't have it plated since 2002!!! My biggest issues with it at the moment are that it needs new cab mounts and some frame patching.

Any input or ideas are always appreciated!

170,000 km's

Nice I have a 87 short bed my self, I'm currently swapping the frame.

I figured since she had been sitting for several years the best thing to do was to start changing out the fluids... Got the engine oil, coolant, diffs and air filter done. Still have the tranny and t-case to do along with the plugs, wires and exhaust to replace.

Had the wife helping me out :)

The left over fluid was like pudding, I had to wipe out the bottom with a rag. Everything looks to be okay in the front. Some numbers I pulled off the R&P 11 17 76 Dana 30360 j1854 41-10

Some numbers I pulled off the R&P 1 gm 3977334 10 41 3 77. There was some minor wear on the Profile surface of the ring gear. Pinion is leaking. Some type of limited slip?

Decided to deal with some electrical issues...

Previous owners wiring...

Replaced the cracked battery and some of the scary electrical wiring... Also replaced the alternator at the same time.

So ya... I'm not sure what this picture represents... don't let the laziness get the best of you I guess. Went over some train tracks... battery jumped up and moved towards the front of the truck. :weld: and fire :yikes:. Alternator positive started welding to hold down strap, battery positive wire started melting and ground wire melted and cracked! What a waste of new wires...

Nice looking truck. I had the battery jump out on a CJ once....bad times. Keep working on it, looks good, great deal with the 60 and 14 bolt, w/4.10`s.

Got some 39.5X16.5x16.5 Pitbull Rockers to mount up on to the truck after this winter. Makes the wife's size 7 shoe look small :D

Well the wife is gone for over a month so I have some free time... :D

Got the plugs and wire changed out, runs alot better! Looking into maybe a carb and intake for it. Any suggestions?

A little side project... picked up a little wall ornament for in the garage. I know it's not a Chevy thing...

I started on the rear dovetail... 2nd side always works out better then the first side! Started cutting with a cut off wheel, then changed my mind after I got pissed off at buddy's compressor that I was borrowing since it kept re-charging. Then I moved on to sawzall... Lesson learned! Mastercraft blades are garbage! So the trust grinder with a cut off wheel came out and saved the day. Well enough of my ranting... took 11.5" off each side. It's a start!

Got Rot?

Who can't resist a sexy rear end?
