Replace with a fresh rebuild. I bought a core to use for the case and it will be all new on the inside. I have a mechanic friend doing the rebuild.

Transmission and Doubler back in the truck still have some stuff to have it fully installed. A friend came by and we started working on it. A little backwoods engineering took place. It's all under the truck and bolted together and I can do the rest myself.

Well got the transmission in and everything hooked up. No reverse, and shifter went into all positions but park neutral and first were the only ones that worked right. So it was grounded while I attended Blazer Bash without it.

Today we pulled the doubler and transmission again so the builder could put in the new valve body that he had misplaced when he put it together.

I do not understand this statement. He "misplaced" the valve body, so he put a junk one in?

He cleaned up the old one. He forgot I bought a new one, until he found it in his garage while I was in Moab.

The valve body requires a bunch of springs to be put in the transmission that are way heavier than stock. Hopefully it will work right after this. The directions on the valve body: step 1 drain transmission, step 2 remove transmission from vehicle...
