The Garage

Thanks Dave. Pushed pretty hard for it being me and konner then me and jimmy. Then a couple others here and there.

Looking forward to the rafters showing up.

Did you get some different fill for the approach to the slab?
I still think you got a GREAT deal on your flatwork!

I did. Need some more fill. It's slowly going away or in or down...

Yeah, I think I got a good deal on that to. So far, whole project is working out well.

are they all over the map like mine were? I had from 33,000 down to 5,500.

I don't know about where y'all live, but a 10 yard load of concrete runs about 1400 bucks for a cash customer out here in the Denver area. A standard 2 car garage is usually 6-8 yards. Depending on thickness. 33,000 dollars is outrageous for an oversized 3 car garage. @cybrfire was there a concrete pump involved?

My 24x24 slab was overdone on purpose using 12 yards, installed with steel was $1800. I went with a semi-smooth finish, didn't want the polished slippery one or the brushed rough.

And got the decking done this morning, just need to install the trim and gutters.

Trim work is a nice medium blue, can't wait.

I have no idea why that quote was so high. I got another shortly after that one for 24,000. Literally the quotes for the cement work were all over the map. The guy that ended up doing it did a great job and I'm very pleased with it as well as the price I paid. He's already been contracted for another job at the DIY4X building.

MmmmmmmmmmmmmBLAAGHHHTTT....:Yikes:..:doah:..

I found my long missing water pump pliers the same way...blades on my mower deck didn't like trying to mulch them...both pliers and blades got bent badly...:(

Rafters go on this coming weekend!!

Be sheeting the roof that day, as well as getting the roof felt and shingles started up.

That's the progress we made Sunday. Hopefully over the course of the week I can finish up the roof work. Then we're on to siding.

I'll second that. ^^^^^^^^^^^

But, how long after the build before you can't park anything in there? :hack::grind:

He'll probably sneak in an I-beam tracked hoist system while we aren't looking.

Looking great, Kurt. Nice job.

Did those headers come pre-cut? They do that a lot out here. I'm just curious as to the single trimmers even on a non-load bearing wall?

I'm guessing you are doing boxed soffits, too, as the outriggers are missing?

Yes, Morton buildings quoted 58K....yeah, thanks for that. I'm lookin for more like 35K.
dealing with the township on a few things and awaiting one more quote then I move from there.

I've got it pretty solid in my mind that two stalls are for parking while the third is for a project or another. I'm going to do my best to keep it that way. I do have an Ace in the hole here though.

Why do I keep expecting to see pics of you trying to weld the 2x4s together. lol

Ya know, during construction, the topic of an all steel building came up. 2x2 square tubing frame, AR plate wall sheets and roof, bedliner coating. Maybe some doors that opened and closed hydraulically. Another life perhaps.

There is an overhead hoist in the works. Can't do much with that till I can get some inside sheeting and insulating done.

Ya know, I'm not a carpenter and don't do this kinda work so I really have no idea what you just said right there. LOL!!
