The Go Fast Smooth Ride Side Video Thread

Couple of weekends ago. Cruise in the dunes and a run up comp hill after a short meet and greet at the north pole

Nice video Chris!

1. It looks like you need to rebuild or replace your hood hinges! :haha:

2. Is there a camera angle that would give a similar view but from slight farther back? The camera is rock-steady where you have it, but since the hood barely moves the whole time I think it takes away some of the drama / speed. If you could get a camera angle from a little higher and further back, you'd be able to also show the driver/passenger cranking the steering wheel and bouncing around over the bumps. I think that would add a lot of great context for what we see out the windshield.

My guess is that you'd have to mount a short tripod-type mount on the b-pillar or c-pillar to get a good "angle" but I'll betcha the end result would be worth it. :waytogo:

Love these videos!

1. Hood hinges, yes I started looking at that out there. They are brand new (2yrs) but looks like the rivets that clamp them together are crap. I'm gona replace them with some bolts.

2. Camera angle, Yes I totally agree. I have done it before but now that I run the soft top I am going to have to figure something out. Having only 1 camera angle is WELL quite boring to me anyway.

3. OK, I'm gona have to let the cat out of the bag eventually. Only one camera angle because I was going to do multiple runs then edit them together BUT:doah:tragedy struck The "Anti-Prius" during our second run. The bolt that holds the pin that goes thru the spider gears snapped and the pin fed into the ring & pinion like a pencil in a pencil sharpener. End of weekend.

Not the coolest vid in the thread, but he's having fun on the cheap and the motor sounds beautiful! Its a 5.3 swap with cam and headers.

Really makes me wanna ditch the 408 and go LS lol. The torque is great, but man Id love to have some high revving hp.

It is pretty cool that a cam and headers makes the ls motors so much fun! Perhaps not the end all be all of motors, but a lot of "cheap" "easy" reliable fun!
