The Green Machine - parked

Update: I got it installed and it looks and works great, I just have been busy and forgot to update this thread, mybad. I love how it turned out can't wait for Christmas to get the gas cans, they're a present from the in-laws. It does rattle some going down the road, but I don't notice it so I don't really care. Overall I'm very happy with it.

One of these is not like the others...

I recently acquired some old school metal jerry cans from my brother in law. They need some clean up and new gaskets for the lids. I used to use the same kind like 4 yrs ago or so for work for hyd oil and such and could easily get lids with the nozzle and everything from Napa at that time. I go to my local Napa which is really good and we do some searching and they don't even offer them any more. They have switched everything over to plastic jerry cans with safety non-vented lids and all the garbage that regular gas cans have gone to. Haven't put any effort into finding the stuff online yet but I'm sure it's out there.

Harbor freight sells a 5 gallon metal gas can for $40, then Wavian sells some for $75 a can.

Cool we have a brand new harbor freight in town near me that I haven't even been to yet. I hate all plastic gas cans now days and I usually need a lot of gas and diesel cans around for farm and stuff since I don't have bulk fuel yet.

Sad day, took the Green Machine off insurance, it needs a mountain of work and I don't know how long it'll take to address all the issues it has.
:dunno:

That’s the opposite of what I was hoping to see Riley.
I know... :doah:

I moved again recently and am back in Utah, and with a kid and moving and buying two vehicles since March, I don't gots no monies. The truck has nearly 300k on it, and the trans is still somehow surviving, but it's slipping occasionally, and the transfer case has glitter in its fluid. The engine has the intake coolant leak for the 5th time. The rear diff is making bad noises and the front axle needs alignment shims so I can get new tires without destroying them in 10,000 miles. Also it needs new springs all around and I want to redo all the shock mounts. Oh and the rear driveshaft is about to break itself. Oh and the AC quit for good.

I think I got it all

I replaced it with this as my daily driver, 35 miles one way commuting is killer with these gas prices. It'll pay for itself in fuel costs alone in 10 months at $5/gal

I feel for you, I have the same platform but with the 454, I love the comfort and power but it's killing me with the gas consumption.
I drive 100-150/day
I am looking at some older Mercedes diesel.

sux it is parked but fuel prices are bad. getting better. last 3y my truck not really driven but paying registration and insurance. my daily 50-65mpg..

Mine is getting 32-ish mpg, which is good enough for now. Also now we're trying to get rid of the Expedition we bought a few months back. At the time it was the choice that we had, and in Montana we would've been able to keep it, but it's so much more expensive here in Utah that it's got to go as well, if we ever want spending cash. Looking at a GMT 800 Suburban in good shape to replace it

Sounds like every Chevy with 300 on it.
