The headache build..

OUCH
How did the battery get into that state??

I think the battery already lives in that state so it's all good... :D

dunno why, but this struck me as funny...

This is my friend Jimmy and his blazer.

Not quite as funny as if he had a jimmy instead of a Blazer...but still made me laugh.

Cool vids BTW...looks like 5 for 5 from what I could tell. Definitely some stout competition out there though (judging by whats under your hood)

Refresh the page because I added text after I up-loaded the pictures.
Anyway, I would say I'm about in the middle for having a fast vehicle. I'm too slow for the big hitters (Big blocks + NOS + paddles) I didn't get any videos of those races, but I won some and lost some this weekend. This weekend was just a shake down run to find problems, and I found quite a few.

Edit-

I found it ironic myself as I was typing that.

I saw that orange and white jimmy all over the place when we were there... although I never saw him down on the sand so I vote poser :)

Nice vids man... that duramax w/o the bed on it was messin' around on the hard pack all night on friday so it's good to see he actually made it back in the dunes too.

If you told me 15 years ago somebody could make a Diesel that fast I would have thought you were crazy. I was surprised that Duramax could run that strong. I knew he was dumping a lot of fuel, but damn, he was fast.
As for that orange and white jimmy, yeah it was just a stock restoration with 4" lift, but that didn't stop me from drooling over it.

Your story bout loosing the batery brought back memories. I was Boggin my old chevy and lost the batery in the mud. I realized it after I had parked the truck and was walking away. I was the batery cables hanging down from the bumper and thought it looked funny. I tromped through my tracks till I stumbled on it. I had ran it over with the rear tire and burried it 1' deep it took 2 of us to pull it out.

Great vids. That looks like a lot of fun rompin that thing.

I had my optima bounce out of the tray once. It landed on my headers and was roasting there for probably a good 1/4 mile on the trail until the truck died. I mounted it back up and the battery ran great for another few months. Autozone took it back no questions asked. :) It was very surprising, since the headers melted some pretty large holes in the top.

I shoulda gotten pics!

Damn-I shouldn’t be on CK5 right now.

I been so busy working on my blazer all week this is the first time I had time to post.

I was having problems with my front axle which I traced to having a bent housing. So last week I decided TO REPLACE IT one week before labor day.

I also replaced my 52's because I already tacoed a set.
The old housing had a crack on the top of the casting.
That is my nephew's girlfriend painting the springs.
I added a button on my shifter for my transbrake.

Lookin' good! So what ever happened to the hub issues you were having when we were there? Or was it actually the jacked up housing?

The housing was the problem. It was making the inter axle and stub shaft go in to funky angles.

So are you guys headed down to the dunes monday if you finish getting it all back together?

I was suppose to be out there last night but ran into problems. I be going in a minute.

Have fun! Hey, get some pics if any old iron chevy's are out there like normal. :)

i was readin ur build... cool truck btw i love sand....when i saw ur oil pan i thought too myself he should put a d/s hoop on his truck too save the oil pan in case of d/s failure. its happened too my buddys truck, d/s went right thru the pan. i run a stock pan for that very reason...

man id love too come play in the sand..

So this is the thread you were talking about?

how did that orange first gen with the paddles do out there , racing at pismo? :wink1:

you got any plans for paddle tires, or you stickin with wide street tires for a while?

isn't there a place out there not too far from you with a timed sand drag 300' track? I was looking into getting into something like that... :D

Hey Ryan nice to see you on here again... It still says my account is inactive on NCBD so I can't get on...

Right now the motor is hurt. The lifters went bad. Somebody told me whoever put the motor together probably didn't clean the oil galleys good enough, so I'm having trouble with the lifters not bleeding down and excessive bleeding down. I'm slowly tearing the blazer apart to fix the problems. I might do some up grades also.
That orange first gen runs really good. I wish I could race him.
I actually got some 16" paddles for Labor day and was planning to run them on Sunday, but the lifter problem prevented me to do so. Only my nephew got a chance to run the paddles.
My bother knows more about sand drag schedules than I do. There is a race at Avenal in October, but I won’t get the Blazer going then, and I probably be in Texas at that time. There is another race down south that was canaled due to environmental reasons. That race will be going after they get the problem resolved. There is going to be a heads up race in Dumont on President Day. I've never gone, but I would like to go next year. Hopefully, I would get the blazer going then. There is another race in Avenal in the spring also.

I didn't take any pictures, and I didn't get any good videos of me racing somebody. The one video I do have, shows me losing to a stock truck. I went up a bad part of the hill, and the blazer was bouncing all over the place. I’m quite embarrass about it. Good shocks are on the shopping list. I see I could upload what I have onto my nephew's Youtube account.

Sorry to hear about your engine troubles and hope you get it running soon. Look forward to seeing more pics of the dunes. Been a hell of a long time since I was out there. I used to live in SLO so had quite a few good times out there and your pics and vids bring back good memories. Keep them coming!!! :wink1:
