The hoodride build... my '70 K5

They cant be bedded in the lug very far, so what if you just did a little grooving right next to the shank, that would loosen them and maybe even expose part of the head, which would make them much easier to pull out. You might loose a couple street miles over the life of the tires but it shouldn't be much. Just a thought.

go for a good drive on the highway and heat up the tires, then with some needle nose and maybe a bit of lube, they should pop right out, if not try deflating the tire. I don't know much that will help but it can't hurt.

Heating up the tires is definitely a good idea. Hadn't really thought of that.

If you're into welding sheetmetal, there's one option I discovered a while back for the rear wheel well.

The long bed trucks had that front corner rounded off a lot more compared to the short beds and will provide a noticable amount of clearance on the front of the rear tire. Long beds are super easy to find in wrecking yards and you could patch in a small section of that corner to help. I have a picture of the difference somewhere in the 69-72 section.

nice looking blazer..
for pulling the studs get a nutdriver handle for 1/4" sockets and usualy it is a 5/16" size that fits over stud.spray them with wd40 and push the socket ofer the top of the stud then push it over and they usualy pop out.after you have done a taire-or less- you will see why they want 100 for the set to destud them lol.

remember-gloves are your friend lol

Quick update: got the driver's side wrapped up for fender trimming, I'm going to flex it out and make sure what I "thought" would be enough is actually enough before I do the passenger side. No sense in doing it twice right? I don't have any pics yet but i'll snap some tomorrow.
Still working on the basics so far, got some of those remflex header gaskets, they are sweet! They're like 1/4" of some woven composite material that compresses down about 50% when you torque them down. Even had the girlfriend get to a couple of the pesky back bolts (454 goes back into the firewall pretty good). Those small arms/hands come in handy :D

Went to the junkyard today to try to find a fan shroud and an oil pan. Shroud was destroyed a while back when my fan blade decided it wanted to meet the radiator. Same incident with the oil pan, except it wanted to meet some rocks :doah: No luck there, but the guy at the yard just so happens to be a 67-72 chevy truck freak so he said he'll call me when one comes in :D

I chopped off my exhaust after the muffler as well, I'll weld on some turn downs pretty soon. Turns out most (if not all) of the exhaust hangers where out so it was being supported by my headers :eek1::eek1: That might have something to do with why my 454's been eating header gaskets.

Here's some pic's I just snapped on my iphone, I'll take a bunch tomorrow to show the interior and under the hood. First two are of the girlfriend, third is my buddy getting excited about wheeling, and fourth is the gnarliest bug bite I have seen in a while. We were working on some electrical crap and he started itching, showed me that and I had to take a pic....

That's actually my bud, but I think he may have gotten bitten as well, he's crazy about it :D

I've actually owned the truck for about 7 years, it was my first car, drove it to highschool and stuff. If I remember correctly, I actually bought it off a guy from CK5 in the for sale section, we picked it up in Arizona. I put it in storage when I left for college and got a Tacoma to get me around, and now I'm bringing her back to life and giving her the life she was meant to have: an offroad play toy/ sunny day driver

Question: My diff breather lines are just dangling... you can see the rear one in the last picture I posted on post #24. The front is just the same... I'm going to mount them up higher for water crossings and what not, but wanted to see where you guys put them. Pics would be great if you've got 'em

If you are rerunning them, grab a good amount of tube, and run them both up into the engine bay on teh firewall. Get some sort of filter/cap/vent deal for teh top, mount to fire wall, and call it a day. There are lots of pics on teh site if you search of what others have done.

:doah: sometimes I forget about that nifty little button. Thanks for the tip.

Well yesterday we pulled the valve covers and air cleaner plates and painted them. Replaced the gaskets, those bolts were barely hand tightened :eek1:

Trimmed the passenger side fenders too and threw a coat of bedliner on. Here's some pics!

Lookin' great! :saweet:

A little time with some 303 Protectant (ie. Armor All) on those engine compartment hoses, and a little more spray bomb detailing of some other parts and it's going to be sweet.

You really gotta ditch that locomotive-style front bumper, and get a factory grille back on there.....IMHO.

Take it out of the parking lot over the Memorial Day weekend and get some great shots of it out in the woods or on a mountain trail somewhere. :deal:

Agreed.

And it looksl ike your upper radiator hose to water neck connections is barely on there. Unscrew hose camp, and slide the hose all teh way onto the fitting first.
