The life, death, and rebirth of my K5 Build.

I was using a holly 600 street avenger, I'm worried that it being off might have gotten water into the engine, so i'll prob end up ripping the whole engine apart, 383 hah...

Hey guys, I have a question, I bought stock leaf spring bushings for my 4 inch springs, but I didn't think to look it up and see if they were the right ones, anyone know where I can get ones to fit? No idea on what brand they are, the stock bushings were too big...Thanks for the help.

Hmm, I looked on lmc truck, and the bushings advanced auto gave me were completely different then the ones pictured, lmc shows a 3 peice bushing, the ones advanced gave me were big, and one peice. I don't want to order bushings from lmc and have them be wrong too, any help?

Just wanted to post a little update, getting back into the swing of things, found out my lift springs are skyjacker, bushings for all is gonna run me 76 bucks, ouch. Trying to keep my head straight on this, hopefully i'll be selling my 4 speed and a set of rims and tires I have so I can get the bushings, a carb, and some brake parts, still have alot to go, but hopefully I can start getting things done. Wish me luck, and hopefully nobody can get there hands on anymore of my stuff, I was reduced to padlocking my hood shut...

Updates ASAP!

Thanks guys!
Jack

Update Thursday Feb 15th 2007

I have my headers, carb, and rear spring bushings. stupid snow, since my trucks at my tech school, and we've had cancelations for the last few days, I haven't been able to work on it. But atleast I have my parts. Anyone happen to know what size the leaf spring bolts are front and rear? i'm going to replace them all, I would assume grade 8 would be the best choice. let me know if you know what size they are! thanks alot.

Jack

Alright, all threads need pics, I don't have many so i'll show off some of my parts.

And just to show off, a pic of two guitars I built. the black one I just recently finished. Gotta love sexy guitars hah, And it also shows the new paint job the k5's getting, blue and white sheep are bitchin.

Jack.

just started reading and I must say nice work despite the set backs. at least you got your priorities straight, got the guns and guitars out.:haha: and it really sucks that people steal stuff like that.

my truck always looked so beat up that I dont think anybody would want anything off of it. I even leave the keys in it most of the time and dont worry about it. if only they knew what was under the hood.:D

keep up the good work.

Update Feb 22nd

Ah..Sweet progress, rear lift is finished, front is done except for the hubs, headers are on, new seals brakes, bushings, bolts, ect ect. And still not close to being done, but closer then what I was hah, I also found out that the person who took my carb was in my tech class, so i'll be digging some more, and finding out where he lives. :angry1: One thing, I'm kind of wanting to be a little taller, It's def up a little higher, I was thinking a 1" body, and zero rates front and rear? what do you think? Also, I bought another holley 600, but it has no vaccum hookup for the brake booster? so I think i'm going to switch over to an edelbrock 600, unless someone has another suggestion, these are just teaser pics, I have a long way to go, so don't judge too much hah..:hack::grind::weld::woot::saweet:

Holley 600 cfm with no vac hook up? That doesn't sound right...

Also I recomend running the vac line to your brake booster directly off the manifold. You get better and more consistant vacuum that way.

Not sure on why the carb doesn't have the vac hookup, But it doesn't matter, i'm going to upgrade to a edelbrock 600 carb, and an edelbrock intake. and yes, woohoo for 85's indeed.

Update 3-16-07

Custom 2 inch aluminum lift blocks are done, zero rates should be finished soon, 4 inch lift completely done, front brakes all new and working flawlessly, rear brakes are being stubborn and won't build up pressure, I think its a kinked line or bad master cylinder, and for the bad, I now have to buy even more front end parts, due to not enough time, I haven't gotten to go get the parts that were left at my old house that burnt down, well I guess someone else got to them first...so yeah...more money to spend...I guess I should have gotten them sooner. blah....
