The life, death, and rebirth of my K5 Build.

Yeah, I only need some patch panels, the only major peice I wanna replace is the tail pan, its not even that bad, but i'd feel better replacing it now, the bed section that goes on it all the way across, about to the back of the wheel wells i'm replacing, as well as the drivers side corner below the rear seat, and the peice all the way front the front of the door opening back to the end of the door opening

Well, started removing sheet metal, gotta little more to replace then I thought, but what can you do hah..Trying to seek out a 14bff and dana44 or 60 with 4.56's, some rims and 40's, so much stuff to buy, its almost overwhelming. Waiting for my graduation party, should have a nice chunk of cash to throw into her soon.

I'm really starting to consider cutting this body up and putting a pickup cab on, I really don't feel like fixing the rust. hah

So...today my blazer body started its life as scrap metal. So I believe it might become a trazer..unless I find some crazy body to put on it...a 91 jetta body was already considered...hah..Future update soon..hah

Update 6-27-07

So this is my plan...my k5 will begin transforming into a trazer.

14bff and dana 44 with 4.56 or 5.13 gears

2 inch shackle flip

52's or 6" springs in front

crossover steering

hydro assist

pickup cab

73 style front clip

38-42 swamper tsls boggers or groundhawgs.

Just a rough list of things that I plan to do.

Heres some pics of my k5...or lack of rather?

Update July 10th

Going to pickup the donor vehicle tomarrow, 88 1500 4x4 bodys going onto the blazer soon, plan on doing some bodywork got some stuff to finish up on the frame, but I plan on starting on it tomarrow. Will update with pics, and for now the 350s going into an astro van for a little fun hah, Updates with pics tomarrow, Anyone have any imput on what I can do for my dash cluster? working dash is a must, not sure how to go about it, use the wiring from the truck, or from my blazer, lets hear some imput, any thoughts?

Thanks guys!
Jack

When you say it's an '88, that's the newer body style, right? The ones that the 4x4s were IFS from the factory?

Let me know how it fits.I've passed on 2 '89 cabs for dirt cheap because I didn't know how it would fit.I'm not to that point yet anyway.Nice job on your build.Glad to see someone making progress.

Blah, put off another day, guy had a tow dolly, but it couldn't hold up to the trucks weight, I could drive it home, but its a good ways and I don't wanna risk it. Flatbed should be the way to go. thank god my dads buddy has one, anyone have any imput on what I can do for gauges? what about the wiring completely? will I be able to use the hookups from the 88 wiring to hook up to my motor to start it with the column thats in it? need some info, thanks guys!

Well are you gonna use Stock gages? Do you wanna use the key to start it? And do you still wanna use stock accesiories (windsheild wipers ect.)? Strickly off road or still gonna be driven on the road?

Gonna be driven on and offroad, would like this to appear stock as possible, would like to keep the stock column in the truck, I believe I will have to go with manual gauges since i'm swapping the tbi body onto the carbed 85 frame, i'd like to use the wiring from the truck, hopefully it will work and I won't have to rip it all out and put the blazer wiring in it, but we will see I guess.
