the LIFE table build

Any plans to just plate the leg supports and make a beefy shelf?

I want to do a good welding table.
Don't need one quite as stout lol. But definitely need more than the 20ga top I'm working off of now :doah:

I built one not far off of yours for the guy I worked for when I was 20. 5x10 sheet of 3/4", 4"x1/4" pipe legs, 2x6x1/4 rectangle tube frame between the legs top and bottom.
And he said NO shelf, because it'd be a catch all.

I've missed that table ever since I left there.
The one I have now I could damage with a tiny ballpean :haha:

i will post up some cut plans in a bit for the 2 size tables if anyone wants to use these and scale down the metal to your own specs .

16ft feet of table is sure nice to have for cutting and laying out a job . No.3 table has gone even faster than no.1 or no.2 . Got the plan down and the correct table for the job . . Tables sorry :doah::rotfl:

so my buddy who already got a 4x6 top wants me to build the frame on wheels and said since i have 3 named already whats his name ?

he said since its in the dirt out back he was figuring DIRTY BETTY should fit good . i like it . has a old school feel like rosie the riveter type name .

had a busy day today so all i got done on NO.3 LISA was here leg tie in parts and 4 top mount tabs . if i dont have work in the am i will pop them in and then the 4x6 slab on and drill and tap and bolt the frame down .

side note i scored some real NICE solid s.s. blank tags the right size for names or #'s of each table . but i am still leaning to custom CNC plasma or laser cut tags with my logo and name with # on it .

So today was a SH!T SHOW . . . . Just a bad day after I noticed I goofed up on making table #3 frame . I didn't use the THICKER 8inch channel I had planned . So I swapped the top for a different top no big deal so I figured ....... haaa haaa haaa . . .

That point on it was fighting me but I did win in the end .

So this is now table #4 and we still need to do #3 yet with the correct stuff.

Then I figured time to fix #1 ROSIE . She was the learning curve table . Not most of us wouldn't think 1inch plate will flex much when lifted at 4 points with 7ft between them . . . Well it DOES !

Here is my good to let others know it and learn from it . The 2 middle tabs need ground down or pulled and rewelded. Note the gap you see light under . This gap is NOT letting the top sit on the channel frame in the mid sections .

Fixed ROSIE'S fat a$$ today . She sits on top of her frame solid now .

Tonight I was moving things in the shop and was looking at my extra air tank that was a compressor at 1 point . I have always been trying to find the right place for it . But can't be in the way or to hard to get there as it's old school age and HEAVY has to move with a engine hoist .

Well BAM FACE PLANT it hit me . . . So I got my tape measure out and sure as hell it will fit and have room left over to spare .

Yes up under 1 of the 4ft x 8ft tables in the dead space / sh!t shelf zone . . . . This will be my turkey day project to do !

New table AND getting more floor space to boot = WIN WIN flagwaver

so i run in to a BIG road block today . . . .

the bulk stick lengths of 2"x2" I.D. square tube for trailer hitch making is NOT easy to find or even its true name . :doah::1zhelp:

i did find a place in cali with 20ft sticks on the shelf . but since i am in new york thats not going to happen .

the correct name i found is FLASH OUT ( weld seam removed ) and its market to hitches and some sliding tube products . but most any steel supply house will NOT have it and some have never heard of it .

here is the place in cali https://www.allmetalssupply.com/portfolio-view/tube-square-receiver/

at this point i have no real plan other than a BULK order of CURT trailer hitch 6" builder tubes for this kind of thing . yes it has the reinforcing ring already and the pin hole drilled so that saves time . i have a email in to a place that sells quantity and waiting for the reply back .

some more digging on evilbay i found a seller for 14.50 each shipped with a pin also . i think this is about as close to a deal as i am going to get . open the box and install no real work required like buying the tube and cutting and drilling ....bla bla bla .

still stupid money at the quanity i need . . . . just not sure yet .
